Work on it! The interface between body and boot is an important component. I bet we can help improve the sport as we write, here and now!

Re: Frustrated at 75mm boot options

Oh, you mean this?: IMG_20160125_162331229.jpg My heels opened up 2kms into a tour to my local xcD spot.Being there, I had to enjoy the day regardless. Those Karhu XCD Descents are killers. They have a stiff white plastic inner sole glued inside (same as my Fischer BCX6 NNNBC exept perhaps a little ...

Please tell us of this dreaded heel lift of boots of old? Was this exclusive to norwegian welted ones? Was is it attributed to?

Re: NNNBC-Magnum

Reading this feels like nordic track skiing with heavy alpine resort ski gear. Liberate the heel, liberate the mind, or so they say?

Re: Frustrated at 75mm boot options

I feel your pain. There are a lot of good models that are no longer made in the used market. I don't have the numbers but the Rossi BC X12 felt very light in hand (the sole is relatively stiff). I doubt the cuffs would be that cumfy though as the upper boot is so soft. My feet can't stand most old s...

Re: Tour de la Gaspesie, what ski?

That's good news. What areas are available for camping? http://www.sepaq.com/dotAsset/cd321e66-2ced-43a2-a658-81359bd73971.pdf some info here: http://www.sepaq.com/pq/gas/ Now, for the slopes, if not like there are any NEW slopes, just that the politics of it all have changed and there is a lot of ...

Re: NNNBC-Magnum

I did mount, on purpose, the magnums on normal skis and mounted the 'small' manuals on my widest ski (Guides)... It's still a million times more powerful than pins. Same dopamine rush feeling as pins, but half the pain on the knees... a million times more powerful than pins? What power are you spea...

Fortunately, this is no longer true. The parc now even allows winter camping in some restricted areas and a decent number of slopes are open to backcountry skiing.

Re: Altai Skis Hok Review

I know I mentioned it before but I still can't help but think of using something like these for winter mountaineering in the Adirondacks or Catskills. A lot of the big mountains here have long approaches because they are deep in the wilderness, but using something like this vs. a snowshoe, you stra...
