Re: WTB Leather 75mm boots
Haven't looked for that size myself, but, you have tried Ebay, right? Seem to have a bunch of Norwegian welted leathers there.

Re: Switchback rods for a 27 shell?
Great minds think alike, Al! I had something similar with my old BD 03's, but they didn't go as far out as the SB's. I could try the fix I used on the BD's, I just took a thin strip of duct tabe and wrapped the end of the cartridge to the cable to keep it in place. I'd rather not do that yet with th...

Re: Switchback rods for a 27 shell?
"Were the bindings new?" Yeah, got them at the end of last season, skied them maybe six times so far. I am considering the possibility that the springs are sort of settling in or something, but yeterday's results were kind of discouraging. Still loosening and going off center after just an hour of e...

Re: FS: Voile Switchback Bindings
"There are long and short rods, not standard." NOt sure about that Fish; the Voile site currently shows short, standard, and long rods available for the SB's. My 27 Excursions are at the smallest end of the fit range for the standards (27-31). And I think it's not good being all the way at one end o...

Re: 2024 Quiver
"They were popular in the Daks back in the 80's. I remember people skiing them with heavy leather boots. They were good turners." I first saw them in the 70's when I was in the Wasatch, and they were coveted by the XCD crowd back then. I was in the Dak's in the 80's and 90's, and they were the prefe...

Re: Switchback rods for a 27 shell?
"Try some loc-tite?" Wouldn't work for this issue, for a few reasons. I have resorted to duct taping the cartridge to the cable on my old BD 03's, but I think the issue with the SB's is different. Looks like I should be able to give it one more try this week to see if it's a permanent thing or has s...

"Makes my arms hurt thinking about it! It's like fast roping INTO a helicopter!"
I remember being barely grab the rope and hold my first few years; didn't help when it was covered in ice. Still not quite as bad as riding the t-bar with a full size person though.

Re: 2024 Quiver
Finally, a pair of Epoke's! I've wondered how they're never mentioned here; they were such a well respected and widely used ski for many years. Another one of those I should have kept.

Re: Old Silvretta freeheel binding?
What Montana said. As far as the toepiece adjusting width, the pivot point is fixed and so will limit the range the wings can adapt to. Nice bindings! Never skied them, but the basic design is similar to what I skied on as a little kid.

Re: pine tar Q
I've always enjoyed the smell, and the whole process. Satisfying to see some tired looking bases treated to a rich, dark finish. Most shops I worked in would complain though, saying it smelled up the whole store. One went as far as not offering any more; said it got into the retail clothing. And tha...
