Re: Tech for xcd simple heel hold down
Innovative for sure. But he says the point is "to lock the heel down during those long flat skates, or the slightly more treacherous downhill section of the skin track." For telemark skiing, why on earth would anyone disable the most fun part of telemark skiing, the telemark turn? If it's for super ...

Re: Quiver Killers or 2nd Ski Kit?
The main problem with QK's (or Binding Freedom inserts, my personal preference) paired with Bishops is the amount of time to move both bindings between skis. If it were me and if I were planning to swap back and forth regularly, I'd buy the switch kit for $70. QKs alone will run $25 (assuming you in...

Re: 22 Designs Vice/AXLE limitations.
Meidjo can definitely be set to be as close to neutral as Voile Switchbacks (or nearly there). And can't the Rotte ones be set fairly low tension too? Outlaw on setting 1 is a bit stiff, but you can remove the inner spring to get it a little softer. Regardless, Axl on 3 is burly. In the end, whateve...

Re: 22 Designs Vice/AXLE limitations.
That sounds more like a too little preload problem in the heel lever than a pivot position problem. Did you try to add more preload?

Re: NTN Binding
NTN opinions vary.
If you're buying it,get Outlaw X next fall.
Scott bought Garmont and has 1 or 2 versions out there for NTN. If you can't try them on in a store or demo them, go with Scott.

Nice job re 19th. That's impressive.telemarkmark wrote:Tempted to put together a tech toe set up.
And if you went with a tech toe set up, my guess is you'd save time and notice a more than small difference between the uphill efficiency of a tech toe and a 3-pin binding.

Re: 3-pin Racing
I would like to point out that I do this for fun, to trim my equipment as well as my technique. I also thought that it might be of value for someone that I shared my experience of this, but I am not sure on that anymore. I think we all appreciate your contributions and interest. Keep at it. I hope ...

Re: 3-pin Racing
Are there really folks skimo racing with 3 pins? Probably very few. I suspect that's because (1) it's not as efficient/fast on the down (unless you make only alpine turns and then why not have an alpine binding) and (2) it's not as efficient on the up -- there's more resistance / less ROM compared ...

Re: 22 Design Axl bindings damaging front part of sole of boots
How old are your bindings?
I believe 22D had this problem and it was the flex plates, which they fixed it. Or something like that. You might contact them directly.
