Re: Avalanche Risk

>>Waiting 24 hours is probably better than nothing; this was my point and nothing more! I'm not down on avalanche education, everybody should take the course. I read "Backcountry" magazine and often there are stories of avalanche burials where people are deciding on-the-fly whether some roller or pa...

Re: Avalanche Risk

Skiers are often directed to complicated avalanche-safety courses, but I read recently that having AIRE certifcation is not making any difference in death rate so far - statistically the people die at the same rate or higher than non-certified skiers. The most simple and effective rule of thumb ofte...

Re: Gear Basket

No metal edges. They weigh 938g each (avg between two) Nice really tall classic tips for that retro cool Shiny hard topsheet Sintered base Woods - these are awesome! I got a pair in 205 from the big Strand's ski shop purchase I made and skiied them into the ground. Fantastic traditional XC skis. My...

Re: Åsnes Waxless Skis

Don't need to belabor the point TOO much more but I want to add my suggestion that all Asnes needs to do is extend the waxless pattern to cover the same area as the kicker skins. The pattern itself is fine. The skis are already designed to work with a skin in the longer wax pocket so covering the sa...

Re: Åsnes Gamme

You're a brave soul to run 210 Gamme's on hiking trails with turns! I need lots of room to arc the E99's and Gamme. If you love this type of ski another alternative is to have a 210 pair and a 200 pair. The 200's will still be light & have camber but will be vastly easier to turn in tight spaces. So...

Re: Ski Review: 2018-2019 Åsnes Gamme 54 BC

The Gamme 54 does have plenty of camber and I've found it works well with the kicker skins - we get a lot of ice around here, I cut a 45mm Asnes nylon skin down to just short of the boot heel and it works great on ice. Like klister without all the pine needles. With mohair the glide would be even be...

Re: Åsnes Finnmark 54bc waxless

nice review, thanks!! Finnmark is going to be my next Asnes purchase, I love the idea of a wider XC ski with the light weight of Finnmark w/ no edges. I've been happy with my older Breidablikks for that reason. in the 90's Kharu used to make several different waxless, edgeless skis with more width t...
