Re: To kicker skin or not to kicker skin that is the question?
lilcliffy, My plan isn't to ski any steep couloir's or steep mountainous passes, just mainly to get from point A to point B, preferably in one piece, The skis I setup are Madshus Epoch with Voile Hardwires and Scott Excursion boots. The trail is mostly rocky, trees on both sides at times, some open ...

Re: To kicker skin or not to kicker skin that is the question?
MikeK, I"ve only hiked a section of it, went in around 8 miles and back out, guess it will be an adventure for sure. I think due to the glacier area and being a total newb on Skis, I might at times feel more comfortable using snowshoes, I guess until I actually get there and get some skiing in, I wo...

Re: To kicker skin or not to kicker skin that is the question?
MikeK, I guess the places that concern me the most, are areas with serious vertical drop-offs, no skiing down those, lol
The elevation changes at the bottom and mileage are probably not an exact match but should be pretty close.

Re: To kicker skin or not to kicker skin that is the question?
I have a feeling that being a non-skier I'll be switching between snow shoes and skis on the long trail. I'm going to get a pair of the full length skins and use the Epochs in wooded mountainous trails and those Asnes skis for mostly wide open flat to rolling hill approaches. It will be a lot of lea...

Re: To kicker skin or not to kicker skin that is the question?
MikeK, what width did you get, I guess you had to cut a lot off. Would some 110's work and just shape them out to the ski? Since the ski is 99-68-84.

To kicker skin or not to kicker skin that is the question?
Is it always best on a non-waxable ski to use full length skins or when would kicker skins come in? I think I had gotten some kicker skins when I only had the Asnes USGI waxable surplus skis to put together.

Re: Mounted these Voile Hardwire and Madshus Epoch
Now those round ones on the front riser of the Traverse were a pain, they were all connected together and when I pulled them all apart they had a small piece of plastic sticking out that I had to remove.

Re: Mounted these Voile Hardwire and Madshus Epoch
Not sure on the plugs for the heel pad on the hardwires, not put the plugs in on the heels yet,but on the Traverse they went in easily, same heelpads, I think putting the indented side facing the end of the ski seemed to help on the Traverse heelpad
