Re: 75mm or Tech for waxless?

FWIW, I use Vector bcs with switchback bindings and I don't mind k+g with the free pivot. It takes a little to adjust but works quite well with the right technique. Free pivot for downhill can work too if you just parallel turn when needed as opposed to tele turns for short sections. It's not ideal ...

Re: XCd recommendations: MN

All I would say is having my skis constantly rise to the surface only to break through under foot is unpleasant to me, giving the sensation of going uphill all the time. A non-rockered ski like the combat NATO does not have this issue. I get this, totally. That being said, the 78 could/should have ...

PXL_20210331_144609121.jpg Most of Tripoli Road looked like this today. Great to get out there before the rain gets the last of the snow. Man I remember back when I lived in the area (early 90s) and worked at waterville valley we tried to take Tripoli road through about this time of year in an old ...

Re: XCd recommendations: MN

I've skied the Fischer E 88s all this season and, while the traction pattern is probably great for pulling a sled, the Nordic rocker makes them less than ideal for breaking trail. The NR is nice when going downhill so that they plane up on the snow, but considering how poorly they turn its a bit pa...

Re: Which width Easy Skins do you use for your Traverse 78s?

Thanks for the responses! Woods: That's the ticket! I didn't think about getting the 50 mm and cutting it down as needed. Thanks for the info. Much appreciated. It's good to have options! Cliffy: Where I ski, scales work well 90% of the time. IME, the only conditions that they don't work in is rotte...

Which width Easy Skins do you use for your Traverse 78s?

What width Easy Skin do you use for Traverse 78s - 35, 50, or 65mm? I want to maximize glide while adding good kick on icy hard snow. Not looking to climb straight up steeps but want to add to the range of conditions these skis are fun to ski.

Why would you try to break skis? You've often bragged about breaking skis in past posts and I honestly wonder why.

Re: How small is too small? Shell fit on Excursions.

Based on your pic connyro, we share a similar skiing style. Do you find your comfort on the snug side or a looser fit? I prefer a snug fit with Excursions. I had to fiddle with footbeds and socks for perfect fit. Haha. Not a photo of me. I just happen to love the fatally-contorted-jeans-wearing-goo...

Re: How small is too small? Shell fit on Excursions.

IMO the best thing about Excursions is the all day long comfort and warmth they provide when they fit right. Any compromise in comfort runs counter to the primary function of these boots for me.

Re: Unexpected Opportunity to Head East

Porkies may be your best bet. Plenty of snow but it's crusty and unstable. There's some ideas for a big snow event next week but we shall see. If you can't find any good bc snow, you may consider riding the lift at the porkies ski hill or doing laps without the chairlift. Lots of fun at that hill to...
