Re: Switchback rods for a 27 shell?

I re-tensioned them one more time, and they're wicked tight; conditions are getting pretty funky around here but I hope to try them out at least once more, and get thhe issue figured out. Thanks for all the input, and I'll check back with results at some point.

Re: pine tar Q

Probably not. Pine tar doesn't need to be re-done, if properly applied, until you see it's wearing off, as in the bare wood base starts to show. I you've got good coverage from your initial application, you should be good to go; not unusual to get a full season, or more. This is assuming you used th...

Re: Switchback rods for a 27 shell?

Al, are you sure the rods on yours are longs? Voile site says standards fit 27-31. I talked to them this morning, and we thought the issue may be that the boot sole length is right at low end at 27. She suggested I measure the sole length from the heel to the pins, the cut off measurument being 305m...

Switchback rods for a 27 shell?

Got my first set of Switchbacks last year, and have only skied 'em a half dozen times or so; finding they loosen up some and go off center (the heel throw) during the tour. Reset 'em, and it happens again. I'm confident it's not a defect, stripped threads or such... so my question is for anyone who ...

Re: Style

"These things make me miss marijuana. It was all so simple" Still is, unless and/or until one looks at it analytically. There's loads of individual style in tele skiing, and while certain principles are pretty constant, there's no "right way" in general. If you ski at a resort some where there's oth...

Re: G3 Targa Heel Throws

Those were probably the single most widely sold 75mm binding for a couple of decades, I think most any shop that handles tele gear should have one kicking around their parts box (I'll take a look at mine). G3 might still have some? Also, heel throws on 75's didn't vary that much, and a heel throw fr...

Re: Open turns in Barnett's Cross-Country Downhill?

I never heard of the term "open turn", and I didn't even begin to read the description, but it looks quite familiar. I group it into the general 'survival turn' category; basically a parallel step turn initiated with the inside ski.The pics are good at illustrating it, and Barnett's in good farm ski...

"my 3 pin bale clamps seem to be getting softer , at the higherst setting on the ratchet clamp. i'm guessing its the new enviromentally-friendly recycled rubber they used on these modern 3 pin boots.. any idea how to increase bale clamp pressure ?" His last post, of two total; I don't think he's been around this site since this post (not a judgement, just a note for those interested in the boots.
