Re: The Wood Ski Thread

Don't forget the pine tar dandruff shampoo!

Have to give Voile some credit for designing a cable without the little doohickey on the front. Back in the day they were all like that. those skis are gorgeous, I'd mount them on the wall to admire them.

Re: Wax it!

>>Give it a hundred yards or more to start working before you put more on I've noticed this too, I'm guessing it takes a minute for the wax to reach the temperature of the snow? I don't really do multiple layers either. I find it's more effective to cover every square mm of the wax zone than to keep...

Re: Wax it!

Tman your commitment to wax is admirable, I must have put a quarter-tin of red/silver on the other day to get enough traction. Aker's has the Rex pine tar wax and it's less than Swix….if the universal can truly replace all the way from Swix Green to Violet that would be cool: http://www.akers-ski.co...

Re: Which bindings and should I even use these skis

those newer Silveretta look nice, I was thinking of the older silver-metal ones. The guy at Strand ski shop said he shipped them all over the world last year, they had dozens of them.

Re: Which bindings and should I even use these skis

wow, climbing Gannett peak would be amazing. so we're talking about a 40 mile approach? That would mean multi-day trekking along, I'm thinking that's enough to justify a second pair of boots. I would mount 3-pin Super Tele bindings or NNNBC (manual version) and get some comfortable nordic ski boots....

Re: Midwidth Ski Measurements: Eon/S78/Ingstad

I measured my Asnes more carefully - on the Breidablikk the BP is only 3/16" behind CC, about .5cm. On the 210 Gamme it's more like 2/16, almost the same spot. I suspect the design goal is to get the BP and CC nearly to the same spot. On my 210 E99's the BP is nearly a full inch behind CC. The dimen...

Re: Crispi Antarctic?

I use the "boot stretcher" from Footfitter.com - it's inside the Antarctic in this pic. You can see a brand new size 47 next to my old one with 50+ days. On the left is my Alico Summit I had converted to 3-pin, it shows the natural shape of my foot. I remove the stretcher just before skiing and put ...

Re: Crispi Antarctic?

[quote="bgregoire" Lucky you, sounds like a great boot. I have tried a few pair on, and my girlfriend also has a pair she used to use. They felt soo awful on my wide feet and they continually gave blisters to my girlfriend's. Alaskas solved her problem.[/quote] interesting - width is why I use the A...
