Re: Wolverine

Thanks! Made mine too!!

A couple of hours earlier we hiked out to a rocky point with a spectacular view down upper Lynn Canal (a fjord) and were watching seals chasing fish on the snow-free Alaskan coast.

Magical day.

Wolverine

Grey man meets Mr. Wolverine. Had fun following these wolverine tracks late this afternoon with my 10/11 year old son, who is nuts over the X-men and Wolverine in particular. I bumped into a wolf the other day on a trail near home - but that was nowhere near as wonderful as spending an hour or so tr...

Re: Some NNN-BC History

Great find Mike. Interesting stuff. Thanks for sharing. I had those Asolo 640 (or 660?) boots. Don't miss them a bit. They were cheaply made and provided no support. They were also ice boxes. NNN BC boots and bindings have certainly improved since 1989/1990! Skis may be a different story... My old B...

Re: Fischer E-109 vs. Asnes Ingstad

And it only took 38 pages of convincing before you got them LilCliffy  I'm taking my Ingstads for a short tour today in the White Pass - we just got 10-15 cms of fresh snow :D Then playing disc golf with one of my sons in Skagway, Alaska, after dinner - love this time of year. What do folks thi...

Re: What do you do when you can't ski?

Nordic skating is alot of fun when there is too little snow to ski. And, you get to stretch the use of your NNN/NNN BC boots :D

Here is a fun video from folks in Alaska. Very popular in northern Europe.

Re: Year in review: What did you learn?

And... back on topic:

The main things I (re-)learned this year is that:

1) I love to BC/XCD ski (after a long hiatus)
2) Alot of the new gear is great
3) Old gear can be great too
4) I live in an awesome place to BC/XCD ski

Re: Year in review: What did you learn?

Grizzly bears are out so I am done skiing in the park for the season. Last season I skied YNP at the end of March and encountered huge, fresh Grizzly track. Yeap. Sightings of grizzlies poking about around my parts too. A bit early. Best time of the year for skiing here is now, and after alot of da...

Re: Nostalgia

I got a pair of used, beat up Asolo Extremes in the early-mid 1990s in North Conway, New Hampshire, and thought I was King of the World to have such a snazzy boot... Good times. They were certainly heavy and solid and did wonders turning the skinny skis of the day. Not to knock the new gear (its gre...
