Re: The new Meidjo 3 from M Equipment

The brake system on the Meidjo is not unlike the Freerides... You have to flatten them with your boots first, and then engage the toes... I have to say that if you plan to use brakes on the Meidjos, you will definitely need to practice at home first before your first day on the snow... 8-)

Re: Nnnbc magnum bindings on wide skis???

Have you ever thought that you can ski with finesse and grace with heavier boots and still have good "feel" for the snow? If I ever thought about it??? I spent years searching for the ultimate XCD experience... I tried every possible combination of boots, bindings and exotic skis. Alas, none of the...

I don't have a pair of Gamme right here now to compare, but from what I recall, I would say they have pretty much the same camber underfoot...

Re: Asnes Mountain Race 48 SKIN

Definitely a nordic backcountry ski... The term Mountain Race is quite appropriate. Plus, the combination of permanent skins and 3/4 edges makes them a perfect ice ski. They will go anywhere on ice, classic or skating style... Something that cannot be done with wax or scales...

Re: The new Meidjo 3 from M Equipment

Yep, any tech toes will require a small amount of practice, especially since there is no standard for inserts placement between boots and bindings manufacturers... But that's nothing really... And that's the beauty about the M3... It looks even easier since the flextor can now be flat when stepping ...

Re: Rottefella NTN stiffness question

Yep, silicone lube is your best friend here... Just screw clockwise for more tension... No risk of over-thightening, you will not be able to go further at some point when you reach the end of the screw... My guess is that there are no marks on your tubes? 2.1 and 2.2 versions of the bindings had tub...

Re: Asnes Mountain Race 48 SKIN

The type of hard wax doesn't matter much. In fact, unless you buy those crappy chinese wax bars on ebay made of leftover crayolas to ruin your bases, pretty much all brands of hardwax have a similar glide. Except for hot temps hard waxes, where I find some are better than others... And fluoro wax...

Re: Nnnbc magnum bindings on wide skis???

I would like to point out that the Alaska boot has significant stability and leverage when the boot is in contact with the binding and only begins to bend and twist all over place when the Alaska BC's heel is lifted high and only the toe is engaged with the binding. When making downhill turns there...

Re: Opinion on Skin Skis?

They do work. They are awesome in fact. Plus, there is plenty of free space between the edges and the skins, which makes them awesome for skating without any drag: http://telemarktalk.com/viewtopic.php?f=19&t=2186 No skins for me on the downhill though. I use them for XC only. That is sacred, not a ...
