Re: Fischer E-109 vs. Asnes Ingstad
uh-oh!!! >>>I really like the 3-pin Voile bindings and Crispi antartic boots that I got on my S-Bound 98's better than the NNN BC's on these skis. The 3-pin boots/bindings are actually less restrictive front-to-back for striding, and at the same time way more stable side-to-side. Also, the mechanism...

Re: Fischer Profoil
The e99 production went from Austria to Ukraine - maybe it came back! Would not be a surprise with the current war in Ukraine. I believe Asnes is currently making skis in Norway and Czech Republic. Epoxying skins is great, but that would ruin the skis for cold snow. I enjoy using my scale skis for t...

Re: Fischer E-109 vs. Asnes Ingstad
I think perhaps you misunderstand Cannatonic. The current E-Series are much more of a XC-ski (i.e. K&G) than the previous generation. Fischer has made a move to separate the E-Series (backcountry-xcountry) from the S-Bounds (XCD). If you like the previous E-109 for long-distance cruising- I would e...

Re: How much does your xcd rig weigh?
I never tried any of the modern xcd boots as I never found a pair I could get my feet in. I have checked them out in the store and some have too soft of a sole for my skiing, but others seem to have a sole as stiff as my leathers, but I don't know how the uppers would compare. Do any of the modern ...

Re: Fischer Profoil
I assumed the Asnes were burlier, so better. But it is true that on snowpacked scandi snow, even the nearly imbedded metal plate could be felt (much much less than the BD kicker skins though). So you tried them? You could feel the tab - but did they glide OK? With BD"s on spring corn they do NOT mo...

Re: Fischer Profoil
interesting. I was wondering if the Asnes clips would stay attached…they don't lock into place. And there's still a metal clip facing the oncoming snow like the BD kickers that suck. The Fischer system would seem to solve the metal-tab-under-the-ski issue. But now there's a hole cut across the ski, ...

Re: The ever-so-popular Madshus Eon
that graph link and your measurements are great data! Very cool, I have to say this is why the internet is great, magazines and manufacturers should be providing this type of info. I normally love longer skis, but I suspect the Eon 205 was just too long, making it feel heavy and cumbersome, and stil...

Re: Asnes USGI Combat Skis
those are some nice-looking skis! I'd be tempted to rock a white jumpsuit when skiing them (remember "Captain Powder" from the magazine?) So they've replaced them with white Ingstads today? I wonder when these were made. 210's with a 67 waist is serious flotation for cruising! So basically the only ...

Re: The ever-so-popular Madshus Eon
I just took a short spin around the woods on my Sbound 78's for the first time (199's). big thumbs up! The length seems perfect. I had 205 Eons and these feel much better, not sure why, maybe the Sbounds are stiffer flexing, maybe I needed shorter length. Considering that most of the base is the off...

Re: Fischer E-109 vs. Asnes Ingstad
FWIW….the Asnes and Madshus skis have stayed the same since the Ute review, but the E99 and E109 are totally different skis today from back then. These are now lighter and more nordic-focused than the older ones. The older ones have a heavier, damped feeling to them, more stable in turns but more ef...
