Re: Musings on Wax

interesting discussion - I've never skied below around -15 F. Your lungs need to acclimate to breathing the cold air, it's hard to live at the warm coast & then travel to the mountains where it's 30 F degrees colder. I was thinking the advice to wax the whole ski with grip wax is for tours with a lo...

Re: Åsnes Borge Ousland BC Ski Review

no arcing???? better hope T-man doesn't read these reviews  I checked the specs - the Ousland is 20% lighter than Gamme, that's nothing to sneeze at. Looks like a kinder, gentler Amundsen to me. I'd love a pair. If you like the E99-type ski, Asnes' product line is pure heaven! There is every po...

Re: Karhu Guide / Madshus Annum + NNN BC ?!

IMO that's some impressive skiing on light gear Lo-fi! My tele skills aren't there yet. Of course the NNNBC gear is flimsier on hard turns - but what about the uphill? HUGE weight difference between the two setups. The guy with Alaskas will be so much happier during the long climb to the top than th...

Re: wax vs scales vs XSkin vs klister

I used a bar of regular yellow glide wax yesterday and it worked fairly well. Kept them about 75% dry and I was going through actual water at a couple points. The 30mm Asnes mohair skin was nice, it felt like I was gripping better & gliding faster than my friend with waxless E99's. Unlike scales the...

Re: 19/20 Madshus Panorama M55 Intelligrip Transition ski - initial impressions

Not sure I'm OK with the rebranding - can we still call these Glittertind??? That was a great ski, hopefully these are the same on the inside. I would think they would cover the warranty issue if the pin breaks off. It would make sense to offer this ski with fishscale - it looks like the E99 Crown d...

Re: wax vs scales vs XSkin vs klister

that makes a lot of sense. I wonder if you can use a bar of regular glide wax for this purpose.

Re: Ski Review: 2019 Åsnes Gamme 54 BC

Congrats on getting the skis - it's well-deserved, these reviews are very informative and helpful. I would say you are somewhat sponsored now, I'd be proud of it! sponsored athlete and journalist. Your reviews are always objective and seem spot-on for the skis I've used. Some of the insights y...

Re: Lake-Skiing: Compact skis vs traditional skis (Fischer 78/88 vs E-99/Gamme 54)

>>The real surprise was the 78 vs 88...My mind keeps telling me that the wider 88 should be more stable and more efficient in deep snow than the 78 or even narrower skis- it isn't. I got mutiple skiers to test the 78 vs 88 and everyone preferred the 78- even when trail-breaking.. I like the profile ...

Re: Chena Baree Ortho-Natural Insoles

>>I got into the SOLE insoles for a while too. They used to make versions with Thinsulate insulation in the bottom that would quickly get wet and useless. Some of the plastic foam versions were quite nice and I THOUGHT I likds their rigidity and super shape, but in the end, I found them too rigid, p...

Re: Åsnes Borge Ousland BC Ski Review

so what's the difference w/ Gamme? Softer tip and lighter weight? Seems like the Ousland is better for traditional XC - or an expedition ski that can do turns (unlike Amundsen). If you plan to make more turning descents is the Gamme still the best of the 3 for that or would it be Ousland? The E99's ...
