Re: Alpina BC 1600 Boot

>>I’ve only tried on the Alaskas (not skied with them) but the Alaskas felt notably less supportive in the ankle compared to the BC1600’s. Maybe I wrote my original post confusing. Same here. Of course I am known to be somewhat anti-Alaska, having compared the support level to sneakers in the past :...

Re: Any experience with the Alpina BC-1600 Boot?

very nice, the leather looks much better than the pair I had. They added the rand up front which I am not fond of because it reduces the stretch-ability of the leather.

Would love to see this boot made w/ 75mm sole as well.

Re: Asnes Mountain Race 48 SKIN

>>I've taken mine off at all temperatures in the past two seasons, come to think of it, and never had any problems at all. interesting, maybe my glue came off because I had sticky kickwax underneath? Not sure. No doubt it's better to clean off the wax before applying the kicker skin but sometimes it...

Re: Ski Review 2018-19 Asnes Nansen versus Fischer E109 Crown Xtralite

these are useful reports! The fishscales do excel at up & down tours or doing laps for turns. I'm surprised people find the Fischer offtrack pattern gliding well though, that is my one complaint about them, the glide seems terrible at times. Maybe it's better on the E109's due to the wider tip & tai...

Re: Ski Review: 2018-2019 Åsnes Ingstad BC

OK, OK, the NATO is the same sidecut ski with less rocker AND different flex! are we accurate enough now?  the same exact dimensions....they're pretty close IMO  . A 100mm waisted, 165cm long telemark ski would be a very different ski to me. If I was thinking mostly XC trail-brea...

Re: Opinion on Skin Skis?

Skin skis make a lot of sense to me - there are big areas of performance where waxless patterns fail badly - ice, collapsing snow, hard granular....short skins work better in all of these areas. I see them as an alternative to fishscales, not waxing skis. But I'm guessing these mohair-based skins pr...
