Re: wax vs scales vs XSkin vs klister

I think the real issue with wet skins is that they might freeze as you hike up in elevation or as it cools at night, then and only the do you really loose grip

Boot Review: Crispi Lofoten 75

And- on that note- Woods reports that his Antarctic- with welted sole- is not as supportive and downhill-capable as his Alaska 75... I would like to read more about Woods opinion. I mostly ski the Crispi Sydpolen and have a hard time believing this would also apply to the Sydpolen... The main issue...

Re: Asnes USGI skis/bindings/boots

I'm not in the loop, but it looks like a company named Serket USA partnered with Icelantic to provide skis and has come up with a 'universal' binding to supply the USMC. Nice find Rongon... Absolutely beautiful military Iceland skis... Price is a bit steep at 800$ for 7.5lbs planks though... I gues...

Skin "tuning" suggestions

I just ordered a pair of 35mm Fischer EZ mohair skins. They should be arriving in a week or so. Hopefully get some decent kick on my S112. I plan to go with your advice and use hot polar wax on the non scaled parts of the skis. hopefully K&G with this setup in average colder (10F-25F) conditions on...

Re: Leather Ski Boots & Light Telemark Boots

I printed out the entire webpage of Dave Mann's pure genius on XCD about five years ago. I made three coppies. A copy is about 50 pages. If anyone would like a copy, unless it's on the web again, let me know. we can arrange something Paul, nice offer. Better yet, you should scan it and share it on ...

Chena Baree Ortho-Natural Insoles

To put it simply, these are the BEST insoles for backcountry skiing you can find. I've been backcountry skiing since 2004 and I have been known to be somewhat of a gear nerd at times, so I have tried a MANY combinations of boots, insoles and socks. These are it ladies and gentlemen. The very best. H...

Nope

A does not = E.

What Rod here is trying to say is you'd be better off with some real leathers.

Re: I did it!!!

When the conditions are right, arking turns on old E99s and leathers is divine. Was just out on mine earlier today and had a blast.

Re: Falketind 62 Review

Nitram: Check your temperature, I think you still have a heavy fever. If the risers on the Voile Traverse bug you (which they could), you can reinstall the SAME binding without the riser. Its called the 3-pin cable (have voile send you the proper screws or get them at a ski shop). No need to go out ...

50mm is the minimum...but I think the bindings are 56mm wide. so it may better to have ski waist width of the same or wider. I have them mounted on my Asnes Falketind 62mm.
I have a few pairs of skis with a narrower waist than the Magnum binding. I see absolutely no issue with that.
