Re: The Great North American ASNES FEVER!

Re: 2019 ALFA Guard Advance GTX M Boots Review

The fit is different. Alfa is appropriate for wider feet. I think they say stronger feet! Lol. You can order Andrew rifugio from a shop in France. Did you not yet come across our thread about fancy leathers here?

Re: 2019 ALFA Guard Advance GTX M Boots Review

Can you get your hands on a pair of alpine Alaska’s to verify fit? These are good boots. You could order your Alfa’s from la cordée in Quebec Canada, might be easier to return that way? If your going for the best 3 pin boot available, have you considered the Andrew rifugio? Sometimes a question prod...

Re: 2019 ALFA Guard Advance GTX M Boots Review

Oh no, I thought I was sold and ready to pull the trigger on a pair of ALFA Greenlands 75mm then I saw this thread about sizing snafus! My largest foot is 27.7cm so with the added ~1.5cm at 29.2cm I'm either looking at a possibly tight 44 or a roomy 45, would ya'll say thats accurate or is all trus...

Heated? I thought we were doing quite well! All I could see was unicorns and platypuses!

I've got to keep working on my English accent I guess.

Enjoy all that snow guys. Storm is coming!!!

Re: Uh-oh... pinholes ripped on my Alaskas

The tear is not across the three holes, it is from each hole forward. I had a better look at the situation today, and what is apparent at this point is that the problem is with the compatibility of the Spikes with something other than a plastic boot. I was aware of the possibility when I got 'em; I...

Re: Uh-oh... pinholes ripped on my Alaskas

bgregoire, I do agree that a molded sole can be vulnerable, and was aware of this when I got the Alaska's; thought that by now there would have been some improvements over 20-30-40 years ago (and there have been some). I'll see if I can talk to Alpina's warranty folks, though I don't have much hope...

Re: Uh-oh... pinholes ripped on my Alaskas

The first ski I have set up with the Spikes and Alaskas, but not the first I've skied the set up, I'm on my second season with it. I understand your thinking on it, but I don't think it's a mismatch on the gear... as in the Spikes don't seem different enough from say the Voile 3 pins to have caused...

Re: Uh-oh... pinholes ripped on my Alaskas

Finally out for a tour on this warm sunny afternoon, smooth heavy snow... all is good touring up to my first little downhill shot. Make a few turns and something doesn't feel right; my right ski is wobbly. Bottom of the hill, I unclip, click back into my BMD Spikes, and all feels solid (I always ch...
