Re: How much does your xcd rig weigh?
Whoa! Man they are as heavy as an Excursion. Def much beefier! I bet that's a hard sell. Most people, for the weight would go for the plastic shell... probably why they went extinct. My Excursions are 1185g/boot. Its a hard sell for sure. But since the knights prohibit plastic.... And besides, ther...

Re: Fischer E-109 vs. Asnes Ingstad
I thought bones and scales were the same to him... oh well. He's gonna have a hell of a time trying to get a pair of wax E109s. Might find a used pair again like he did if he gets lucky, but I never see them for sale used (yes I check). And if they are for sale new... $$$$. They are relatively comm...

Re: How much does your xcd rig weigh?
Hmmm... well then. What is the weight? 2.5lb per boot? They might be the missing link between our modern XCD boots and the Excursion! Why wouldn't Crispi have offered something like this? There is a huge gap between the Svarti and the Excursion, both in weight, and stiffness. 1340g, nearly 3lbs per...

Re: Fischer E-109 vs. Asnes Ingstad
OH I know there was no comp to the old one, just the S 98, which I have... I was using his comp to a ski I have to try to figure out wth the camber on the S 78 was compared to the current E109. You might be right though... The E109 xtralite and the S 78 might be closer than we think. And frig, I du...

Re: How much does your xcd rig weigh?
I bet those Karhus are a lot like Svartis, just stiffer in the sole. For sure it can be done... but will your heel comply? The Karhus are burlier than Svartisen by quite a bit (i have tried the svartis on before). My heels! ;) Yes. I have swapped the footbed for a Signature CD Thin SOLE (giving me ...

The S Bound 78 is a nice skiing XC ski IMO. It ain't fast, but in fresh snow it does just fine.

Re: Fischer E-109 vs. Asnes Ingstad
I read a review on the boundary waters forum of the modern E109 and the guy had a pair of S Bound 98s too. http://www.bwca.com/index.cfm?fuseaction=forum.thread&threadId=795478&forumID=236&confID=1 He claimed the E109 was now double camber. Had a look at your source. I don't see any comparison ther...

Re: How much does your xcd rig weigh?
If weight and fit are issues, unfortunately nothing of that caliber will surpass the excursion (plastic) with a replacement thermomoldable liner (intuition). i also have a pair of the old andrew/ARKOS/karhu double boot with trak thermomoldable liners. actually, it's the boot itself that is heavier t...

Re: Fischer Profoil
I assumed the Asnes were burlier, so better. But it is true that on snowpacked scandi snow, even the nearly imbedded metal plate could be felt (much much less than the BD kicker skins though). So you tried them? You could feel the tab - but did they glide OK? With BD"s on spring corn they do NOT mo...
