Re: Fischer E89 Crown

Hey MikeK, This could be a product of your switch to a system binding (i.e. NNNBC). The system bindings allow the complete extension of your foot through the stride- right to your toes. (this is at least one of the reasons why NNN/SNS offers higher performance efficiency than 75mm-NN) At the beginn...

Re: Salomon retires its X-ADV line

Sorry bgregoire, I have never skied on NNN system, but many of my friends who have NNN systems don't seem to be able to ski significantly better than SNS guys just because of the difference of the gear. The both fall often. :) Yeah, ok, actually I would have figured SNS provided a little more contr...

Re: Salomon retires its X-ADV line

CIMA, have you noticed a significant difference in downhill control b/w the X-ADV system and NNN-BC?

Salomon retires its X-ADV line

Hi! For those who like rumors in XCD land. The local Salomon retailer told me yesterday that they will be closing their entire backcountry ski, boot and binding line at the end of the year. I bet for most this will not hurt at all but thought as Steve Barnett was known to enjoy the X-ADV system bind...

Re: Misc scenes of XCD on NNN/SNS

Aye man! Takuan pickles and pow, I am SOO jealous! Wow, I didn't know that those pickles had become international! :o Well, I might be the only canadian outside of the japanese community that loves real takuan & makes his own tsukemono, miso and shoyu between skiing runs. Keep the XCD scenes ...

Re: Skiing in Canada's Provincial Parks

Hey MikeK, So you guys got a good amount of snow today? Sounds like it was real nasty round LJ's area but nothing here up north. Damn cold and nice and sunny. I don't want to crash of LJ's party but I party disagree about his statement that Quebec is XCD paradise. Now I to agree that that may be a f...

Re: narrow double-cambered off-trail xcountry ski

From my understanding the NARROW ones have zero sidecut (whereas as the XCD ones have tons). I tried one pair once for 30 seconds. Great for crossing a lake. I hear they are still being sold, even though the company does not seem to advertise them online. Well ok, a sidecut of 8mm or so....nut much...

Re: narrow double-cambered off-trail xcountry ski

Not much talk about the Alpinas - do they still make skis anymore? I've noticed a few models here and there at shops but I never bothered to try them.
