Re: Alico Mod Double 3 pin leather boot questions

I came across this blog post this morning:

http://garyrolfe.blogspot.ca/2013/03/no ... usher.html

Read up, Gary combines intuition liners in a "soft" 3 pin setup, much akin to what I have been blabbing about. He also uses VBL liners to keep his insulating socks dry. He lives in the Arctic.

Re: Fischer S-Bound 98 or 88?

It was this post above that made me think of the Karhu Jakt ski (108mm width- as wide as the Annum!). Responding to your post above: 1) doesn't sound like you are concerned about touring efficiency- don't need/want a long ski: the Jakt is short 2)doesn't sound like you really need a dedicated downh...

Re: Backcountry ski expeditioning

I made a few overnight backcountry ski trip (from 2 to 6 days), and the biggest problem I've encountered so far with my partner is severely frozen boot in the morning. I wet my boat a lot in a day (mostly sweating), and after a long night outside, putting the boat back on is the worst torture ever....

Interesting, what are the current single camber full XC length skis you know of on the market today?

Sadly no, but enroll me on the Pro team, i'll be more than happy to try em out and share my comments!

Re: Backcountry ski expeditioning

And then there is Crispi's track record. They are not considered as high quality as the other Italian manufacturers. What other leather ski boot manufacturers are there in Italy that produce NNN BC boots? Oh - none that I know of. I just meant Crispi's leather boots in general. They make leather hi...

Re: Backcountry ski expeditioning

I never used to do this when I was into winter camping, and I used to deal with the block of ice boot in the morning, but now it's pretty common for people to use vapor barrier socks. If you are broke you can just use plastic bread bags - but they aren't as durable. Yes! Makes a world of difference...

Re: NNN BC Magnum reliability in the backcountry

Clean break doesn't sound like a fatigue failure - but sometimes it's tough to tell if there might have been a very slight material defect, tooling mark, or small fatigue crack that initiated the failure. Really needs to be analyzed under a microscope. Did you determine they were hard based on scra...

Re: Backcountry ski expeditioning

What are the best NNN BC backcountry boots. I mean in durability, reliability, etc. It seems the Crispi Svartisen and Alpina Alaska are the two to choose between? Woof...durability is one thing but another is comfort. Not all slippers fit the princess and the same goes for ski boots. All boots I go...
