Re: NTN newbie, should I get the Meidjo 2.1 or Outlaw X ?

For my money - I'd go with the Outlaw X. The main complaint I heard from a few guys I ran into with Outlaws was stepping in with brakes on the previous version was pretty finicky, and I believe that was supposed to be mostly addressed with the X. Regarding boots, I wouldn't make too much of a judgem...

Re: NTN newbie, should I get the Meidjo 2.1 or Outlaw X ?

If I were mostly resort riding and just getting into NTN, it'd be 22 designs all the way. The Meidjo just has too many gremlins in its first couple of years for my tastes, and you'll also be even more limited on boot choices with having to have tech inserts. I've been on Rotte Freerides for 5 years ...

zippering bumps in 160 SL tigers.... talk about the wrong tool for the job. SL skis are way too hooky for that. That's what my Hart F17s are for - absolute blast in the bumps tele or alpine.

Re: Confessions of a Frustrated Boot Buyer

Green Superfeet insoles are my go-to, and my foot is about as average as they come (medium width, normal arch, etc.). They work fine in tele boots as the semi-rigid portion of the insole is all behind the bellows. They're pretty inexpensive but have good support. Just trim it to fit. There's a few o...

Re: Confessions of a Frustrated Boot Buyer

You shouldn't ever expect to use the footbed that comes with any boot. With how much individual feet vary, there's no point to boot makers investing any money in a 'decent' footbed, as it would only work for a small minority of users. Always pull the factory footbed and replace with something that f...

Re: 3-pin limit

What about this model of Scarpa T2? Does it worth considering? I have an offer on some local site. I mean: are they much stiffer then the T4's? I believe that is the last version of the T2 before the puke green T2 Ecos came out. It's a comfortable, easy to flex boot. It's probably not much stiffer ...

Re: edge tuning equipment

1 degree off base/1 degree off side (89) is always a decent place to start, and you'll keep the edge sharp longer with a 90-degree total. That being said, you'll get a sharper edge the farther acute you go, but it will tend to dull faster. Shallower angles off the base (i.e. 0.5) will get you onto e...

Re: Hammerheads have arrived, Now where to mount?

I've only had one ski where I didn't like boot center on the manufacturer's recommended line, especially for an 'alpine' ski, so my advice would be to start there. At least with hammerheads, you could pretty easily move the binding one set of holes back or forward if you don't like the original moun...

Re: 22 Designs Vice and Hammerhead Bindings hurting my knees

If you don't like the ramp angle in the HH's, you could always build a small shim and raise the toe a little. Like someone else mentioned, have you adjusted the pivots? If you've got HH's set on 5 (all the way back), they're going to feel really strange coming off old Cobras, which would feel closer...

Re: Wow, need tips for skiing with active bindings--so different!

Good to hear you're adapting to it. Were the boots new? If so, you may have been dealing more with breaking in new boot bellows than with the binding itself. And an 'active' binding, when defined by the pivot point, can cause some tip dive. Your freedoms aren't very active compared to many of the 75...
