Re: where should i go?

I'm currently living in Norway and it's pretty awesome - different areas will suit different types of skiing, there are the flatter plateaus for long tours and also steeper mountains for more downhill focused stuff. The trail networks are really well signed and maintained during the winter, and the ...

Re: Thank you...

Same story here, the snow is disappearing fast, the skis have now been cleaned up and put away for the summer  Had some great skiing this winter, including one last overnight trip a couple of weeks ago to Norefjell near Oslo, but now it's time for my bikes to get some attention! :D Really glad ...

Re: T2 liners - can these be heated?

If you don't already have some, think about getting some custom (or off the shelf, depending on your budget) insoles to replace the stock ones inside the liners. These will help to keep your heel back and toes off the front. As others have said, your foot will tend to flatten and widen over time, bu...

Leo, take a train if you can, you are only a coupe of hours from paradise. I crossed Rondane several years back, its a beautiful place among many others at your doorstep! I've got a buddy driving over to Rjukan at the south side of the Hardangervidda plateau next weekend so will probably get a lift...

I will probably reach for my fatbike instead! On that note, Oslo is forecast for +9 deg C tomorrow  Won't do the trails much good...

Re: Ski Review: 2018-2019 Åsnes Gamme 54 BC

We've finally had a drop in temperature here along with a small dump of snow which has given me a chance to give the Gammes another go. I started by scraping and completely de-waxing the bases, then used some fine sandpaper on the approximate area of the kick zone (from the boot heel to where the Xs...

Re: Thinner 75mm boot soles?

I wonder if a thinner sole flexes more easily, and is therefore less prone to cracking than a thicker, stiffer one? Might be one reason for boot makers to switch, even if it makes the boot less powerful for downhill skiing...

Re: Ski Review: 2018-2019 Åsnes Gamme 54 BC

Haha, certainly not trying to put anyone of their Gammes! The issues most certainly lie with me, and not the ski  I do have some Swix V60 red/silver wax, but it's such a mess to put on I try to avoid it if at all possible. I did see your post about keeping it in the freezer before applying, I h...

Re: Ski Review: 2018-2019 Åsnes Gamme 54 BC

Thanks for the input guys - I think you are both right, it's partly to do with the snow conditions and partly to do with my technique. I don't believe there is anything inherently wrong with the skis, especially as so many other people have had such a good time with theirs. To Lilcliffy's point, the...

Re: Ski Review: 2018-2019 Åsnes Gamme 54 BC

Hold up! Breathe! Is this your first time on a wax ski? If the temps are hovering around zero you should be expecting wax issues. To me, that would be a good time to use the X-skins, cut to your length of course so that they do not drag too much. You should have an easier time with wax on non...
