Re: Skiing Bigger Descents in the XCD Style
Jack, Take a look at the Asnes line: https://www.en.asnes.com/products/alpine-touring/ My xcd ski is a Falketind 62. That would be a bit narrow and light for your use, but perfect for my lower peninsula Michigan use with a lot of kick and glide, and short vertical downhills. I also have the retired ...

Re: Startex ski wax manufacturer (Start ski wax) bankrupt
I think I will order a few spare tins of Start Oslo Special. I don’t believe I have used Swix Red/Silver since I tried the Oslo Violet. I have some Oslo Blue, but have never tried it. The downside of Olso Violet is even when scraped clean, that little bit of residue will make colder waxes stick. Ah,...

Re: Wool insoles; Chenna Barbee?
Thanks Stephen That just proves proves how fried my brain is after a long 12 hour day! Well, that’s my excuse. I’m still a bit embarrassed. paulkasdan I am glad to hear you are producing virgin wool orthodontic insoles. When I need another pair I will search up this thread and order another pair. I ...

Re: Karhu Lookouts
I’m curious about those Karhu lookouts. The reason being, a long time ago, Telemark was something I was just beginning to see when I was skiing in Michigan’s UP, at a time when I was skiing there frequently. Two buddies and myself were in a Marquette, Michigan ski shop, when I spotted a pair of Karh...

Re: Wool insoles; Chenna Barbee?
Hello Paul, I have a pair of Chenna Barre. I believe the company was sold a few years past. I like my wool insoles. I am not sure about the quality of the current product. If you decide to purchase, I’m sure many people here would appreciate your review. I don’t think I would have missed a review of...

Re: Viability of Waxable Skis
I scape klister off with the aid of baby powder. If conditions are warm you don’t need to go beyond scraping unless you are going to apply a skin. In southern Michigan temperatures go up and down. I use citrus cleaner if it gets colder to prevent sticking If you find yourself skiing multiple kliste...

Re: Viability of Waxable Skis
It sounds like a kicker skin would be better for big swings in temperature during the course of the day.

Re: old wool pants for skiing
Wow, Woodserson Those look like the East German pants I bought from Coleman’s quite a few years ago. I liked the first pair so much I bought 2 more. One pair is still in the cellophane wrapper, one pair I wear to church on Sundays, when I going skiing immediately afterwards. The last pair are my reg...
