Re: E99 vs. Outback 68 vs. Sporten Ranger

I'm surprised no one's mentioned Gammes here. This is supposed to be a cult forum. They're not un-turny, immensely good fun, and can get you long distances up hills, nein? Fish mentioned the Gamme, but cost is a factor for Ski Nut, so thinking of budget. But yes, GAMME. That's probably the most ind...

Re: Pictures, pictures and pictures!

I'm not sharing these to social media because it's mean when so many of us are really struggling, but this is the only thing keeping us sane at the moment, and I'm pretty sure you'll understand here. KEEP IT UP. It would help if you included some ski in the picture, like that MR 48 or whatever... y...

Re: XCD - the past and future of skiing?

Which resort Martin? Bolsterlang in Germany, some 10 km from the Austrian border. The village is about 900 m above sea level, the highest starting point is at roughly 1,700 m. So it's comparable to your place. When the snow started to get unreliable, I would get up very early if necessary and take ...

Frankly, I think the lighter/softer BC X-6 boots go with the E99s. You won't get many turns out of those skis anyway, unless you become an E99 nerd and practice like crazy. Well I guess I'm the "E99 nerd." Here are some powder-8s E99 style http://telemarktalk.com/download/file.php?id=2534&sid...

Re: E99 vs. Outback 68 vs. Sporten Ranger

I'm having a tough time following what you want. Do you want a good XC ski or do you want a XC to go down hills? It seems you want both but maybe not? 1 Are you climbing up hills and you want to ski down them in XC skis, exclusively hills. or 2 Are you XC touring in the backcountry and there will be...

Re: XCD - the past and future of skiing?

This is all academic. Ski resorts are more prepared than most to weather shut downs. Here in Europe, it's reliable snow I see retreating uphill year by year. I wouldn't book a Christmas skiing vacation in the resort we regularly went to ten years ago. Snow never seems to suffice until January there...
