Re: Traverse 78 Binding Recommendation

Good classic boot, tough to go wrong. I found the stock laces stretched when skiing, low stretch laces from Scarpa helped. There are other options too, and neat ways to lace as well.

When skiing was beautiful, an art, an expression of self..

...but not the weird wide legged power stance which, while effective, looks brutalist and doesn't flow. It's devoid of soul, it lacks expression, it lacks of art. Racing ruins the breed. This season, I'm going to focus on making my skiing more beautiful, more flow, more dance, more love, more sex. I...

Re: Karhu Catamount

Those are Rottefella bindings, not Rossignol and yes, you should get them because this is what you're supposed to do, accumulate as many skis as possible, try them out, see how they feeeeeeel, learn things, keep learning, keep getting more skis. Do you have DA FEVAH?! Catamount, classic older ski th...

Re: Altai Skis Still Available?

I'm 6'2" 155lbs and I used the 162's for 2 seasons no problems, very maneuverable and lots of fun. I got the 174's for days when it's 12" of pow or deeper and carrying a load and I wanted to ski much steeper stuff (45deg+ in Tuckerman Ravine) and was getting the back tip caught up on the front bindi...

Re: Altai Skis Still Available?

I spoke to them this spring and they were moving into a larger space, I think they are doing fine, the HOKs especially. On the US store the 162 and 174 are still available. https://us-store.altaiskis.com/product/kom-ski/ Really great ski, you can't go wrong. Lots of fun, super smart design, robust b...

Re: Traverse 78 Binding Recommendation

I used NNN-BC on this ski at first, then switched to 3-pin and had some slightly moderate success as a neophyte skier turning them, then later as I got more skis that turned easier swapped back to NNN-BC and use them just for straight-and-go skis now but now also have the skills/foundation to turn t...

Re: Lift assisted BC/XC Cascade Mini "Tour"

Its nice to see our trails mentioned on TT. If you get up to the Nordic area at Summit At Snoqualamie, especially on a Saturday, ask for me (jack) and say hi. I patrol those Nordic trails all winter. The trails are nice, well groomed for both classic (track) and skate. The Nordic trails are at the ...

Re: Gear Basket

To add to lilcliffy's above post, some good prices on Voile Objectives, Ultravectors, and V6's going on right now. Probably about as cheap you're going to find! (I can't recommend the V6 enough, if they have your size, git'em!)
