Re: 75mm or NTN for a rookie

If you can afford it go for NTN and tech toes. I have Meidjo and TXP. You can back the tension off for a less active feel. For flatter tours on the TXP I remove the power strap, one buckle, and the cuff lock. When skinning, undo all buckle except the one at the toe. You might wish to try the Moonlig...

Try removing the ski-walk cuff lock, quite a few grams there

Re: Seeking Advice on NTN

I found not a huge improvement from Axls. Main benefit was they P turned better! On hard / icy snow more of a benefit.
If you need new boots, make the jump.
Likewise if you tour, 2 pin options climb better and are lighter.

Re: New to Telemark, Advice Please?

NTN is closer to Alpine as 3-pin is closer to Nordic, but NTN (or Tech -toe variations) are where you will want to be. Used boots are probably the most difficult thing to get, then NTN binding, though someone somewhere will be passing on a pair. Try 'earn your turns' website. Skis, used Alpine skis ...

It is £900 for Civilians, you have to pay all by 22 November. (I have still to pay, but will be doing so very soon). Looking forward to another great event- my technique has moved on (and up) so hoping to make the British Championship races this year.

Re: Brilliant Telemark Event - 12 - 24 Jan 2019 France

I went this year, largely for the instruction, which was very good. Racing (in any sport) was never really my thing, though I have to admit I am starting to enjoy it and doing more. We had lots of fresh snow - so spent more time enjoying ourselves than practicing racing. Had a great time, made some ...

Re: Telemark Skimo racing (was: 3-pin Racing)

Tempting lines...not on Telemo kit! Will take ScottyBobs next year and try some of the easier lines.
You are about 10k from civilisation, so has a wilderness feel out there, definitely lifts the spirits.

Re: Telemark Skimo racing (was: 3-pin Racing)

Not racing, but did my last tour of the season in Scotland. Finally, I hope, getting the feel of my Telemo set up. I think I now have the binding well set up, a useful level of spring from the start, but still a smooth progression to a low stance. The skis have an unusual flex, soft ends and stiff m...

Re: Telemark Skimo racing (was: 3-pin Racing)

It would be great get a telemark team from Scotland, unfortunately at present I am the only Telemark Skimo racer, ( or the number one tele Skimo racer, as I like to say!). Do you have any competition for this title in Sweden? Don’t worry, if I do make it, your title will be safe!!
Cheers Mark

Re: Telemark Skimo racing (was: 3-pin Racing)

Wow! Serious stuff!! Did not see any photos of you ripping a few tele turns, obviously the Photographer has not heart!!! Is there much difficult climbing in the Ski Tour race? Glad to hear the tele kit all worked well, especially with the F1s. Mine are the Race model (not carbon cuff) with no tongue...
