Re: Strava

I've used my Strava logged "routes" to overlay on top of Google Earth images to create my own "Trail Maps".
Works great!

Re: pine tar Q

thanks All!

I do like the process of prepping a woodie ski with pine tar,
but if i don't have to, and it does indeed "last",
then I will skip a year...

pine tar Q

for old woodie Birke Beiners…

if I prepped/pine tarred them 2 yrs ago, and only skiied them 2-3x soon afterward, and not since;

do I need to pine tar them again next year? (assuming we actually get some snow!) or is there some residual longevity there…

thanks!

Re: Replacement pants for Patagonia Mixed Guide pants?

best pants I've found are made by the Brit company Montane, 'Terra" line of pants.

I have the "Terra Mission" model, which is lined/lightly insulated,
but they make more lightweight, non-insulated, also

But loads of pockets, good adjustment at waist and cuff, and good venting options.

Then next time out, probably opt for a more traditionally sized/cambered ski, in those "tracks" And having sa...

And how do you transport them?
snow hasn't cooperated here in NY this season, so i haven't been able to *use* mine, yet.
but your "transport" question is well-taken.
I drive a VW "hot hatch", and these planks run from the rear of the hatch,
to the front portions resting on my dash. ;-)

Re: I killed my Fischer Rebound Crown skis. What to replace them with?

I forgot to mention where I ski, which has a lot to do with what kind of ski would work best for me. […] So, since the Asnes skis rely on two different climbing skins designs for enhanced grip beyond kick wax, wouldn't that mean buying (and carrying) a lot of stuff for this kind of Northeast USA wo...

Re: Which ski for steep downhill narrow trails with a 50 lbm backpack

A lot of it was on new 205cm Fischer Transnordic 66 (previously called the E99), which a few people have mentioned. I definitely do NOT recommend the TN66 for this kind of skiing, and I really tried to make mine work. The tips are too soft, the ski is very resistant to pivoting, it tracks so straig...
