Re: How wide is too wide to skate your skis?
ok, I feel old now. I was a nordic racer during the exact period of time that "skating" became a Thing. Bill Koch was my idle, and he was the skating pioneer. I still remember as a teenager when there was no division between skating and classic. we would agonize over the decision before a race: am ...

Re: How wide is too wide to skate your skis?
Hyvä Suomi! While it may seem strange, I can see where you are coming from when you ask about skating with wide skis on frozen lakes. If the situation is right, I will skate with my Fischer E99 Crown. On very icy mountain tracks, I would use skating if my grip is poor. I don’t see why you couldn’t b...

Re: Fischer E-99 getting a makeover/name change?
Maybe we can ask Åsnes to make a GMTO (Group Made To Order)? Keep the Gamme spec but with a longer waxless base pattern than the regular Åsnes WL. Then drop the current graphics and make it more inline with Combat Nato or MT51. ”The Telemark Ski”? How many are interested? //Rickard// I am intereste...

Re: Equipment upgrade from skinny skis
So thanks once again all who chimed in with advice. In the end I went for a mellow upgrade and found items that fit at good end of season pricing. Ended up with 200cm Fisher E99 waxable easy skin skis, Rotefella NNN-BC manual bindings and Rossignol X-10 boots. I genuinely believe the only boots my ...

Re: NNN BC Heel Slip
@Eärendil what is the moleskin tape? where do you buy it? does it stay stuck to your skin? I've been using the super sticky Band-Aid brand Tough Strips but they don't stick in sweaty socks, so I use athletic tape all around my ankles and feet, and that works. would be nice to skip a step...even tho...

Re: Equipment upgrade from skinny skis
Thanks to both of you for weighing in! Everything is sold out these days anyway, so I've got time to really digest all this info. The trails are in St-Donat, I've been exploring the area around Le Grand R. http://www.saint-donat.ca/files/Carte_Hivernale_des_Sentiers_de_St-Donat(1).pdf Your main pro...

Re: Equipment upgrade from skinny skis
Hi folks, Another first time poster here seeking some equipment recommendations. I have been xc skiing on and off for the last decade with a pair of wax-able Rossignol "touring 1.0" skis with sns Profile bindings and some rather soft low ankle height fisher lace up boots. The ski's measurements are...

Re: NNN BC Heel Slip
As someone who have long struggled with blisters, I sympathize with all who have to endure this pain. While other people praise Lundhags, my feet beg to differ. The notion that one should walk in a shoe or boot should , in my view, be discarded. At best they will become tolerable, but not comfortabl...

Re: Fischer E-99 getting a makeover/name change?
Me no like new name. Me want this ski with more stable shovel, trad raised tip, much less Nordic rocker, Off-Track Crown insert and kicker-skin insert. I might see if I can get my Gamme 54 BC to shag my E99 Crown Xtralite and then clone the most favourable of the offspring... Except for the Offtrac...

Re: Question - Fischer E99 Easy Skin Xtralite
Which year did Fischer make the switch to Nordic rocker on E99? I have to say, in the conditions I ski, I mostly appreciate the rocker or at least I am not bothered by it. Then again, I haven’t skied on the previous version. For me the Offtrack Crown pattern vastly outweighs any other shortcomings. ...
