"Wax and dachstein mitts! Lovely combo!

Re: What is your preferred go-to BC setup?

I love long tours as well as finding the places for some down and turns. I love both equally, therefore I find myself an XCD skier.

Re: Wax it!

I'm really digging this resurgence of interest in waxable XCD skis that's going on here @ TTalk! I'm a waxman indeed! I have no formal education in it tho! Wet snow in the 40's last weekend required lots of Swix Red on my Glittertinds. They climbed well and the kick was fine all the way to T-lake i...

Re: Old S Bound series

I love the old S-Bound Fischers because of their FULL sintered bases, and the negative kick pattern means nothing to me. I like kick wax... Paul are your S-Bounds waxless or are you waxing over you negative kick "scales"? S-bounds are both waxless, yes, with negative scales machined into 100% sinte...

Re: Old S Bound series

We were on icy trails yesterday. My wife and daughter were nearly immobile with waxless skis. I reached into my pocket and applied heavy Blue Extra to their tips and tails, then I applied Red Silver directly to their positive scales. Now their poly bases will not hold wax forever. But...we skied a ...

Re: Old S Bound series

More people should wax for conditions and drop the marketing mumbo jumbo that a fishscale pattern is valhalla. WAX ATTACK! Love it.   We were on icy trails yesterday. Re: Old S Bound series

My S-Bound Outtabounds from 2010ish (with the textured top sheet) are VERY stiff and practically double camber. They will NEVER invert. I like to tour with heavy loads in deep snow on these. They will always give me good glide wearing double Alico's and a full pack. To the contrary, my Snowbounds ar...

Re: XCD Vacation: Where would you go?

NEARBY DREAM : I concocted a tour of the Adirondacks for winter break this year. We're going to ski the BREIA trails (free) in Boonville Sunday and stay over at The Edge Hotel north of Boonville ($111.00 after tax with free breakfast) Then Monday drive to Paul Smith's north of Saranac Lake. Here we...

Re: The Ski Lite / XCD thread

I'm hitting the snow but before I go, what's the widest ski you would use to say faithful to the beautiful touring/turning scope of XCD skiing. I think mine would be 88/68/78, but I am considering 99/69/88 for going solo out there on untracked trails for some more float. If I could miraculously get ...
