Re: XCD - the past and future of skiing?

I can only speak from personal experience. My closest ski hills are in the Catskills, which have been really snow-deprived lately. Unless I want to drive for 3 or more hours, I have to wait patiently for a good snowfall, then pounce on conditions while they're good. You snooze, you no ski -- unless ...

Questron for ya... Which skis for 3-buckle boots?

I need yet another pair of skis like I need another hole in the head, but... I guess I'm shopping. Hoping for some advice from the congregation... First, background info: I'm in 3-buckle Crispi CXP boots. Due to fit issues I won't be changing out of those anytime soon. My preferred bindings are Axl ...

Re: Saw this on Facebook - Voile TTS binding coming...

I wonder if the price will be substantially less than the other, more advanced/feature-laden binders out there... Maybe that's Voile's angle. I dunno. I do know that I like Voile's bindings in general. They've always worked well for me, and I like their ease of use and simplicity. Maybe this one wil...

Re: Johnny, Pierre, and the beast. Or the new Telemark Tech Norm (TTN) vs the future of XCD (NTN-BC)

That's a good idea and would be nice on a T4 type boot. It's been here for over 10 years... It's called a Crispi Shiver NTN. Wait... Crispi Shiver weighs like 7 lbs a pair, and they're pretty stiff. They're basically the NTN version of the XP model. Scarpa T4 is a much lower, softer boot. Most comp...

Saw this on Facebook - Voile TTS binding coming...

It's only a screen grab from a social media post, but it looks legit!

Re: NNN BC - ski width

I still have both leather and plastic (2 buckle) telemark boots. The cable question is a good one. What I've found is that with plastic boots, even something as soft and touring oriented as the Scott Excursion, the cable in the Voile 3-Pin Cable binding does not make much difference. The plastic boo...

Re: Newbie seeking advice

Back in the TelemarkTips days, I was told the general rule of thumb for matching boots with skis was that leather boots were good for skis with up to about 70mm waist. Once you go wider than that you'll want to start looking at plastic boots. Your Volkl skis are downhill 'carving' skis, so I think p...

Re: Leashes and ski brakes for 3-pins

I found a cheap snowboard leash at my local ski and board shop. They were like $6.95 each, so less than $15 for the pair. They look like these:
