Re: Wooden skis from the skies

Those 1980's Karhu skis were notoriously famous for losing camber, primarily because of their relatively soft foam-injection cores. Both versions of the XCD, and the related model, the partial edge Kodiak, behaved this way--a few seasons of use(if they didn't break first) and, one day--poof! flat ca...

Re: Wooden skis from the skies

First of all, congratulations for finding a pair of antiques that might still glide and turn! Secondly, how does the flex feel? In my experience, wooden alpine type skis were rock hard in the flex department. Finally, give this guy a call or email and he might be able to ID your treasure, he's the l...

Re: 4th

I was really enjoying being a member of this forum, reading about and discussing tele skis, skiing and other outdoor activities... This thread has changed everything with it's virulent political name-calling and such. Is this site moderated in any way? If so, how about moving this thread to the "off...

Re: Any info on the Rossignol OT 65 Positrack

Isn't it great to talk about new skis in July? I think it's fun. The only detailed review I found was this one: https://www.skiessentials.com/Chairlift-Chat/Rossignol-EVO-OT-65-Nordic-Ski-Review/#:~:text=The%20reduced%20weight%20from%20the,at%20a%20really%20nice%20weight. I'll bet it was written by ...

Re: Alico Ski March Boot

In the US, cobblers that know how to resole telemark boots correctly are few and far between, and can charge anywhere from $150 and up for a total resole. If you think that's what you need, I'd first try this repair, or just buy another pair of Alicos... It's an easy fix, really, it is an easy repai...

Re: longtime lurker requesting ski advice

\ The air temperature was 30 deg F, snow temperature 32 deg F. I put Swix V20 green all along the ski, and blue extra (V40) in the wax pocket. Result: for the whole hour and half I got massive clumps of snow along my entire skis. I had to stop every 10 minutes or so to scrape off the snow. This is ...

Re: The most supportive leather 75mm boots commonly available now?

The Alicos are reasonably supportive, but don't expect alpine-boot-type performance from them, or any leather boot. Edging in hard snow conditions, or on steep slopes, with leather boots will always be a disadvantage compared to a plastic telemark or AT boot--the torque created by weighting an edge ...

Asnes skis on sale

(I hope this doesn't violate any forum rules, but I didn't want to keep this just for myself. I am not in any way associated with this company.) Neptune Mountaineering in Boulder CO has Asnes skis, and skins on sale this week, apparently with free US shipping. https://neptunemountaineering.com/colle...
