Re: Alpina BC 1600 Boot

I ordered the boot for my girlfriend and just received it yesterday. Out of the box it looks like a very promising boot. It uses a 3.0 mm full grain leather (my Stetind have a 2.4-2.6) and a kevlar reinforced toe-box. The sole flex is stiffer than both the Stetind and the Alaska (out of the box, le...

Re: Alpina BC 1600 Boot

For what it's worth, I emailed customer service this question... "I live in the USA and I have tried on both the Alaskas and the 1600s and ultimately bought the 1600s because they fit my foot better and felt much more sturdy/supportive. I am part of a community of telemark/xc skiers and wonder why t...

Re: Alpina BC 1600 Boot

In the end, I think we can all agree that "the fit is the fashion". It's better to focus on the fit/feel (as long as it performs as needed) than where it sits in a companies line-up or against other boots that carry a brand that a person feels like they prefer.

Re: Complete skiing. Near perfect continuity between flats, uphills and downhills.

A lower grip on non adjustable pole is a must in the bc. Have you tried skiing in 2 feet of soft snow with those baskets??? Man, that would be such a pain IMO. SWIX makes large snow baskets with leather webbing. The leather bends the basket so that it does not drag on hard snow. And the large baske...

Re: Alpina BC 1600 Boot

I am looking at this shoes also for my girlfriend. Can you give some impressions about the sole? Does it feel stiffer than the Alaska as well? Can you squeeze the shoe/sole with your hands only or do you need to put the shoe on the ground and use your body weight? A stiff sole with torsional rigidi...

Re: Alpina BC 1600 Boot

Thanks for posting this review -- I'm interested to hear more once you use them further. For now, any comments on how they fit compared to the Alaska (e.g., in length, width, and foot volume)? Did you fit the same size in both models, and how does that compare to your regular shoe size? I looked at...

Re: Alpina BC 1600 Boot

The BC1600 has been around longer than the Alaska. Are you sure its not as supportive? Its got the same look as the Alfa Skarvet, which I believe it the specific boot Alpina was trying to compete with in the scandinavian market. I’ve only tried on the Alaskas (not skied with them) but the Alaskas f...

Alpina BC 1600 Boot

This won't be much of a review, I've only skied them once, but I thought it would be good to add this boot to the list of options for people to consider since it's not as common for some reason. In searching for BC boots, I tried: Alpina Alaskas Rossi BCX6 Fischer BCX5 a handful of others by Madshus...

Re: Any experience with the Alpina BC-1600 Boot?

I ended up buying these boots and have taken them out on only one trip so far. Of all the boots I had tried on, these happened to be this Cinderella's glass slipper. I'm glad I held out for them. They fit my foot well like the Alaskas, felt stiffer/more supportive than the Alaskas, lacked that pinch...

Re: It exists! Fischer Excursion 88 in a 199cm!!!

I think you'll enjoy them, Micah! I've not put a ton of distance on mine yet, but so far I've enjoyed them, particularly on the cold, dry snow we had just east of you a week ago. Which, as you say, is no longer in our forecast. Even the Lolo Pass area is supposed to be warm and rainy into next week...
