Re: Åsnes Nansen Waxless

Thanks for the pictures guys, Trondheim looks beautiful, what a great place to live, congrats. I love it here, but I think that parts of the US and Canada are probably even much more impressive, wilderness wise. Here is a little update on my impressions regarding the Åsnes waxless pattern for XC (n...

Re: The new Rottefella Back Country binding system

Hi! I just read some info including an interview with Rottefella's head of development Øyvar Svendsen about this binding concept picture on Fri Flyt. https://www.friflyt.no/utstyr/skiutstyr/hva-er-det-rottefella-lager-her The info is behind a paywall in Norwegian. I suppose it would be a breach of c...

Hello, I hope this is not considered advertising. If it is, please say so and I will delete this post. At XXL (Norway's biggest sports shop chain) they have Gamme 54 in lengths 180 and 190 cm on sale for 2000 NOK (~200 euros) including NNN-BC manual bindings. https://www.xxl.no/asnes-gamme-54-bc-man...

Re: Åsnes Nansen Waxless

Large outdoor adventures without a car have proven far more feasible in Norway than they ever would have been when I lived in Wyoming or New Hampshire. Between my feet, skis, bike, and the train I manage to get around Norway pretty darn well. I think that where you chose to live makes it much easie...

Re: Åsnes Nansen Waxless

Hi all. I’ve been reading this forum for a year or so, but the many coincidences in this thread made me finally register so that I could post a reply. I also 1) live in Trondheim (American transplant), 2) ski waxless Nansen, and 3) use Crispi Stetinds. I’m out in Bymarka (where Grakallen is) pretty...

Re: Åsnes Nansen Waxless

We finally have some fresh powder in cold conditions (-8 degrees) without too much wind, and I was able to abandon all responsibilities for a few hours and go up and down the local hill near Trondheim (Gråkallen). It is a short-ish hill with a pretty nasty radar infrastructure built on top, but it w...

Re: Total newb, looking for advice.

You want an off-track XC ski. There are many options, obviously. You say that walking is involved - do you mean without skis? The easiest thing to decide is in my opinion, the binding - NNN-BC Manual because it is more efficient on the flats. The BC auto bindings can have freezing issues, forget abo...

Re: Åsnes Nansen Waxless

thanks for the Nansen review - good to know these are popular skis in Norway. BTW I am watching the "FIS Ski Tour 2020" race event on TV that runs from Sweden to Trondheim. These Asnes waxless patterns are different from what we've seen over the years - shorter length of pattern and less grip than ...

Re: Åsnes Nansen Waxless

Excellent review on this ski Roelant- very much appreciated! It sounds like a highly versatile BC-XC ski- much more versatile than the Ingstad for example. My sense is that both the Nansen and the Gamme 54 are intended to be versatile- the Nansen sounds a bit more tuned towards turning than the Gam...

Re: Åsnes Nansen Waxless

Uh-Oh, Gareth. I've got the feels for this ski. I bet I would really like a 200cm. I'm certainly appreciative that this ski comes in 5cm increments. On some days I am too slow on the 200cm Gammes and other days the 210cm Gammes are too long. I would love a 205cm Gamme. I need one of each. Gahd, thi...
