Re: XCD - the past and future of skiing?

Matilda Rapaport... ... died for a freaking ad clip! Because the pertinent thrill is the thrill as perceived by the audience - the thrill of the risk to someone else's life! Which is totally sick, in my opinion. Yes, there is often an element of risk involved in exciting activities. You calculate t...

Re: XCD - the past and future of skiing?

To me, when I look at Telehiro or HyokoD for exemple (cf youtube channel) I get a lot more thrill than looking at Salomon or Red Bull TV features... Yep, me too. Spectacular as some professional freeriding may be - free it is not. If it weren't minutely planned and choreographed, it would be freque...

Re: XCD - the past and future of skiing?

Unfortunately, I think XCD's downfall is that it's not too thrilling to watch, and resultantly does not get a lot of exposure in the mainstream ski industry. ... Anybody have any other favorite videos? Yes, this one... it's not the most spectacular clip Lo-Fi (?) has put out. But it features the ki...

Thanks. It's a bloodbath almost.
Two friends say there wasn't enough snow for XC around Stockholm this year - not once!

30 years ago, people used to skate between the islands in the archipelago every winter! The sea froze.

Re: E99 vs. Outback 68 vs. Sporten Ranger

Well I guess I'm the "E99 nerd." Here are some powder-8s E99 style Neat, neat, neat!!! There is absolutely no way I could replicate that on E99s - unless (perhaps) I gave up all other types of skiing and gear configurations for a full season! Ski nut : If you look at Woodserson's pic with 'alpine e...

Re: E99 vs. Outback 68 vs. Sporten Ranger

Alpine I an advanced, black diamonds are fine. I'm an expert Alpine skier (42 years of experience), but have only done some sporadic XCD over the past two years. So I may not have the expertise you are looking for, but I probably know where you're coming from. If you're like me, you will find the E...

Re: Rossignol BC X-12 Boots, My Review

The boot was deeply discounted this season, and most sizes were not available for the 2020 season, so it makes me wonder if Rossignol has dropped this boot from their lineup. Mine was an almost unbelievable €149.99, a recent bargain directly from Rossi (noticeably more expensive elsewhere). I think...

Re: XCD - the past and future of skiing?

Which resort Martin? Bolsterlang in Germany, some 10 km from the Austrian border. The village is about 900 m above sea level, the highest starting point is at roughly 1,700 m. So it's comparable to your place. When the snow started to get unreliable, I would get up very early if necessary and take ...

Re: The Great North American ASNES FEVER!

... for comparison, I regularly go 40-50 mph at resorts on alpine skis and feel great) Same here, sometimes even much faster. Speed is always relative (yeah, of course, but I mean psychologically). On technical mountain-bike trails I might need so much focus that I can't even glance at the speedome...

Re: Rossignol BC X-12 Boots, My Review

Martin, your observations are quite correct. However, I would argue the biggest complaint against Rossi boots, regardless of their models, is durability. They just are not very durable. The X12, of course, is the best of the bunch, and it appears the collar is actually some kind of fiver reinforced...
