Re: Winter solstice campout at Colorado’s Rabbit Ears Pass, plus first impressions of the Asnes Nansen

Wow, did your pictures ever make me miss my winters in Colorado! I've day-tripped up in Rabbit Ear's pass, but never camped. Thanks for sharing.

Re: Pictures, pictures and pictures!

Krummholz, Wow, your photos sure got my attention! Those photos show some favourite trails of mine that, unfortunately, I'm unable to ski right now. For a few years till 2019 I was spending the better part of winter in Grand County. Getting out every day either at Winter Park, Rocky Mtn. National Pa...

Re: It's XCd. Case closed.

Warning: if this thread turns ugly, I'm stripping off my knee pads, loosening my suspenders, hooking up the dog-team and driving straight home. Well, I might stop for a quick apple fritter at Tim's on the way, but only because I got nothin' better to do... Re: length of ski poles: I like 'em short, ...

Re: Help Me Learn How to Turn...

There are lots of good ideas here. Of course when breaking down the turn into its component parts we will find divergent views and advice in our responses. I came late to tele, and it quickly became a big part of how I experience winter. I started from a lifetime XC background with occasional alpine...

Re: Long lost footage of OLDSCHOOL47 ???

Not sure if I should thank you for posting this, Wooderson. It's raining and gloomy here in Tremblant, and I just spent way too much time watching this 70's-style dervish, which led me to google Hansi and "Schlager" music. Well, if that ain't "Misty water-coloured memories of the way we were!" Well,...

Re: Tele Technician in Mont Tremblant?

Yes, that's why I'm loathe to have any tele installation done outside of hardcore tele country which for me is Frasier, CO. Anyway, I left the new gear at home and am enjoying skiing the resort at Tremblant on my old set-up. 2 days in, while there are no crowds and the snow is decently soft, I've gl...

Re: Tele Technician in Mont Tremblant?

Thanks for the reply, Boby.
I called Extreme, but they don't do 22 Design Installs. Next I called Dan Lachance whose shop is willing to do them, but I get the sense that no one has asked for a tele binding install for quite a while.

Tele Technician in Mont Tremblant?

I'm heading from SW Ontario to Mont Tremblant on Sunday to spend a week. When necessary I've always had excellent experienced techs in Colorado do installs for me, and I've done my own, too, but never with Vices. I want to install a set of Vices on brand new undrilled QST 99's. Anybody, a shop or ot...

Teleboard Mystique

I just read the ad for two used tele-boards in the "Turnaround" section. Two years ago at Steamboat I met a guy outfitted with free heels on one of those. He explained the background and technique to me, and we did a couple of runs together. Needless to say, I was in awe of his prowess. Nonetheless,...

Re: New Member, Future Skis

The Fischer 98's have lots of bite for climbs up forest service roads and green slopes at resorts. Mine are 1st gen. pre-easy-skin. I have a pair of skinny tip-to-tail skins that I sometimes carry with me for steeper ascents, but for the most part I get by without using them. Those skis are good at ...
