i alpine and tele and i get hurt more in the park on tele than alpine i think not because the skis dont release(cuz if u fall hard enough they will dont worry) but because when they come off the hit u inn the head. im not sure if its because they're to big for me or what. im 5'6 135 pounds and i ride 169 piste pipes

I'm actually thinking about buying the 7tm. I guess it would be important to know what kind of unspectacular jump you made.

my left ski was just crossed over the right one and drilled into the snow when I was landing. My knee made kind of a strong rotation and therefore I was wondering why the binding didn't released - normalley it does, especially if there's a wicked hit on your foot from the side...

I never used any other bindings than the 7tm and the skyhoy, so I can't unfortunately tell you how the 7tm ski, compared to other bindings. (I once tried a roteffella cobra just for one run, and I do think that the 7tm hasn't such a strong powertransmission like the cobra.)

anyway hope roteffella's gonna find a good release solution for their new NTN... so long

I ride Linkins, and absolutely love them for skiing around, I've heard alot of dislike towards them, but I find them excellent except for one semi-major thing. To much pressure when dropping a knee, mostly switch tele-stance landings, and they pre-release. Good in a way, but highly annoying.

I'd say easier in an alpine stance, but in my opinion WAY stylier in a tele stance, and you don't see it too often, it blows minds.

Loosen the pre-load a little bit!!! The Linken releases in a deep knee bend only when it bottoms out the spring. Loosening the pre-load gives the spring a little more travel and should solve the pre-release problem.

I discovered this on a steep chute(ish) run when three consecutive turns pre-released. Pocket tool saved the day.

these are all pretty old posts, so dont know if anyone will read this before purchases are already made.

anyhow, for park skiing a releasable is a no brainer. actually, i think it's a no brainer for any kind of skiing. while it's NOT a cure-all for knee injuries, it certainly doesn't hurt. "knowing how to fall" is all well and good, until you fall really hard. if you eat it that badly, no amount of "knowledge" is going to keep you from a free ride in the patrol sled.

i've done my BEST to break my new 7tm Power's and to no avail. i think the durability is up there with anything else on the market. it's not bullet proof...no tele binding is. i say its good enough.

as for performance...a huge leap over the old 7tm All Mountain.
the pushed back pivot point is great...similar in feel to a HH between 3 & 4. for landings, i esp like the bit of "dead band". by this i mean the 1/2" or so of play when raising the heel before the spring tension really kicks in. the lack of that "going of the handlebars" feeling is quite nice. on my old G3 i noticed a significant amount of "boot rocker"...the feeling of the binding always pulling your foot forward. the latter is typical of any side cartridge binding like the hardwire, R8, or Targa.

i really like the releasibility in the park as it gives me a little more confidence to try new things and not worry about twisting my foot around 360 degrees. weighting in at 205#, i ski the DIN setting at 7 or 8 depending on how locked in i want to be. i've had some pre-releases at 7 trying spins when i'd catch an edge on takeoff, but at 8, so far so good.

in repsonse to critical's comment:

Quote:
bomber > hammerhead >> 7tm
in terms of reliabilty. I've smashed 7tm riser shims and stretched the straps skiing park. hammerheads just suffered cracked cable spreaders, and most people I know on bombers just worry about ripping their lower legs off

i'd worry more about ripping my leg off than a few pre releases (ps - 7tm's warranty policy is pretty solid too). i have no love for the bomber, specificially for that reason. i think the hammerhead is the best of the non-releasables. your pick though...good luck.

Maybe your boot and ski were both on the snow, no release if both are rotating.

How about the BD 02's in the park (and for all around)? I ski R8s now, but I may need to buy some new bindings to fit the k2 pre-drills.
