A trampoline gym just opened near my house (imagine an entire warhouse space filled wall to wall with trampolines, with pads on the joints between them and angled trampolines in the corners... it's pretty sweet!) and I've been spending a lot of time working on spins and flips. I'm trying to figure out how to set up a cork 5 or 7 though. Sometimes on skis I just cork naturally (but I usually eat it), but I can't figure out how to do the same thing on a trampoline.

i've always had a tough time throwing proper corks on trampolines, and most people i ski with agree that it is next to impossible. the straight up bounce isn't helpful at all. tough to carve off a tramp, you know.

I watched some videos on youtube of people doing cork 5s on the ground (the "tricking" crowd). It looks like they jump off of the left foot and kick the right foot across, sort of over their left shoulders, which gets the cork part of the spin going. Then once committed to this they throw the right arm across to get the regular spin going.

I agree that it seems sort of tough to do that on a trampoline, but I'll do some experimenting and see what I can get.

I did also find some videos of people doing a "butterfly twist" on a trampoline, which looks like the same thing as a bio (I saw both 540 and 720). So maybe I'll try that too.

I haven't tried a misty 5, but I see how what you are describing would work (I think). Are you saying jump and spin, but once you get 180 go headfirst into the misty 5 (but since you didn't really start the misty from the ground, you only get partway off-axis and end up corking)?

I also screwed around on the trampoline a little. It seems like you can also do it if you start with a sideways stance, throw a lincoln but then open up so you get laid out more horizontal, and then reach into your spin. This is sort of seems like cheating though since you start sideways.

Thanks for the tip on doing the cork 7 by throwing 180 -> misty. It was a lot easier than I expected... I nailed it the first time I really committed.

Can you do the same thing on skis? Some people say you need to carve off the lip to set your cork, rather than just throw your shoulder down at 180.

naw do not carve off a jump for cork 7
that wont help at all
you have to set ur rotation with that 180
and then throw the misty 5 as you were doing on the trampoline
