The link below is for a survey being done by the USTSA, which is the organization that is responsible for the nurturing and promoting of telemark racing. The survey is designed to help them with their strategic planning but also confronts issues that are relevant to the future of telemark. If you're so inclined, please take a few minutes and fill it out. Many thanks.

| I took the survey, but I think the idea of "racing" needs to be expanded to beyond just timed events. If the goal is to promote tele skiing, then USTSA needs to start doing park, pipe, big mountain, and amateur events that people can do on a "whim" to try out the comp scene. Or at least some more GS, Downhill, Super G, etc. events. Best of luck! |

Might have to make sure there are fouls called on excessive pole waving...better limit pole length or disallow them.
Just finished the survey...
Metaphorically speaking, it sounds like a bunch of Appies run the thing....better recruit some Vulgarians! _________________ "Moderate is not the new Low" - Chris Joosen, USFS Lead Snow Ranger (Tuckerman Ravine, White Mountains National Forest) |

| I hate surveys. They tend to be mindless and stupid and this one is no exception. I took the survey because I love telemark. Despite 25 years of telemark experience, i am totally ignorant of USTSA and have no familiarity with it's operating principles. Thus I could not answer most of the questions unless I just guessed or answered on whim. I left all the questions blank except 16-18 and 21. I hope this is useful to them, but I doubt it. It looks like the organization is only concerned with racing and I think the sport is much bigger than that. I used to race alpine 30 years ago and the narrow focus of alpine racers is one of the things that drove me toward tele. |

| Not to mention that they seem to be the Steamboat Springs TSA, which explains why I've never heard of them. But, I filled out the survey anyway... |
