Sure it does. I thought you could see both sides of issues like this one? Laughing

I followed the Minnesota stadium debate pretty closely. No one ever presented a reasonable argument to let the Vikings move to LA. Minnesota would have been the loser had that occurred. The Vikes would have been fine. There isn't another side to the issue. I'm going for a bike ride; go slobber on somebody else.

Yes. Well I'm sure Mitt Romney would not have supported the taxpayers swooping in to save the day. Wouldn't want to have to get all twisted up in knots about who to throw money at and who not to. Laughing

Also... OOOO! A bike ride! You must have the most wonderful adventures.

When I was in Atlanta last month the Falcons were pulling the same shit. Build us a new stadium or we will move.

They have a perfectly fine stadium left from the Olympics, but it doesn't have enough sky boxes and other shit.

The cost would be nearly 1 billion and that is a low estimate.

I pretty much hate pro football anymore because of the massive amounts of money involved.

That FHW cannot recognize the bullshit smell of all this doesn't surprise me one iota.

The NFL is just another symptom of a morally bankrupt system. Gladiator sports. woohoo. not.

The NFL is over legislated and boring, every team is the same.

Where do you even start with this hodge-podge, word salad of nonsense and brain puke? Minnesota would have lost out big time if the Vikes moved to LA (and a new stadium). It's that simple. This isn't a situation of the government placing some speculative wager on an industry or business venture. The NFL has a proven, wildly successful product and its highly coveted franchises are money in the bank to any municipality lucky enough to get one. Minnesota needed a stadium. The roof collapsed in 2010. The venue was never that good and in the thirty years that have elapsed since it was built it's just gotten worse. It had to go. But the timing couldn't have been less fortunate. The idiots on the right are up in arms over any type of public debt (even "good" debt that will obviously pay for itself and more.) and the idiots on the left (read: most of you) can't stand the idea of government teaming up with or assisting any type of business interest unless it's a company that's developing moonbeam farting unicorns to power a light rail system which exclusively services underprivileged neighborhoods. It's the politics of our times and it played out in Minnesota and came right down to the wire. Finally, what appears to have got it done, was the NFL commish actually going to Minnesota and basically sitting down with the political leadership and saying: "Guys, wake up. You're gonna lose this thing and don't say we didn't warn you. The NFL will not stand in the way of a Viking request to relocate next year if something doesn't happen - now." Both sides quit posing for their idiotic base and just did what they knew they had to do all along anyway and which they couldn't afford not to do.

There's massive amounts of money involved because it is a very successful sport. Your comment reminds me of Yogi Berra: "Nobody goes there anymore. It's too crowded."

So, should Minnesota have let the Vikings walk even though it was in its best interests not to? I really don't know what you're trying to say.

Look, it's no shocker that a bunch of unbathed, bearded, sandal wearing weirdos on a telemark ski site don't like Football. I get that and it's not news to anybody. But Minnesota didn't get "screwed". Minnesota will do very, very well as the location of an NFL franchise. Just like they all do. There is no financial or economic downside to having one of these things.

Back to your regularly programed spew-age.

You can like patchouli and football too. Razz

But F these teams, if they want to leave then leave.

Raiders tried to milk LA for $$$ so did the Rams. Both those teams are gone. Nobody in LA really cares. Minn should have called their bluff.

Geez, I guess this particular sucking of the public teat is pretty important to you. I don't disagree that the numbers might even work out better for Minnesota in this case-- it's just amusing to note where right-wing philosophy is chucked in favor of economic stimulus. Also amusing is our sagacious straddler of serious issues refusing to admit that stimulus funded by taxpayers is exactly what he's arguing for here.

Another strawman, Steve? really? Your schtick gets boring. A municipality acting in its own economic interest and contributing to the cost of a stadium for use, in part, by professional sports franchises, is not "stimulas spending" in the commonly understood definition of that term. And even it is, so what? I don't recall ever taking any position in here that would preclude me from ever arguing for any type of government spending.

Just because I don't like or respect you, doesn't mean you get to put arguments in my mouth. Laughing Laughing

So you are in favor of the government picking winners. Could've saved the schtick and just said, "yes." Laughing

Wow. That doesn't even make any sense. You're really pathetic. Now quick! Post something really dumb and non-responsive! Maybe this time you'll have the last word. Imagine the sweet victory!

FHW that you refuse to acknowledge that this is a perfect example of Gov. priming the pump to create economic benefit just like all the things you rail against is no surprise.

Play dumb all you like but that is the essence of your argument.

I'm sure he's as equally concerned about expanding the light rail system in the twin cities, but you have to admit that's not nearly as important as a stadium.

When have I done that?

Look some investments are no-brainers. Others are more speculative. I trust that doesn't come as a big surprise to you.
