It cost taxpayers nearly a half-million dollars for first lady Michelle Obama to travel to Spain in 2010, according to an analysis by Judicial Watch.
The right-leaning watchdog group estimated that the trip cost $467,585. It based its analysis on documents obtained from the U.S. Secret Service and the U.S. Air Force.
Judicial Watch President Tom Fitton said it took his group “two years and a lawsuit to get these documents out of the Obama administration.”“It is hypocritical for President Obama to fire GSA officials for wasteful conference spending, while his family went on a luxury vacation in the Costa del Sol Spain that cost taxpayers nearly half a million dollars,” Fitton said.

Need not say what I think of your asertion. Let's just say it is absurd.
| Quote: | These right-wing commentators were curiously silent when the Bush family took vacations. The New York Times noted that Laura Bush took a vacation every year of her husband’s presidency, with Secret Service agents and a government plane. Also, Media Matters calculated the cost of President Bush’s frequent trips to his ranch in Crawford, TX, Camp David, and the family compound in Kennebunkport — he took more vacation time than any president — and put the tab at $20 million for air travel only.

Oh and that probably does not count the month long African Safari Laura and the twins took.
And all while a WAR is waging, WOW!

I am flying to Spain for a week,
to a hotel, with breakfast and dinner,
all for less than $800. _________________ You give us what we want in a week, or we beat the hell out of you and take it anyway.

| What is truly remarkable here is that you and other RWNJs are so ignorant that you find this interesting and controversial. Are you a recent immigrant to the U.S.? Do you have an education? Obviously you know very little about the institution of the U.S. presidency. You can start your learning path here: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/President_of_the_United_States |

As far as sheer audacity goes, nothing beats Date Night 2009 in NYC. As the George Bush's recession raged, GM was bankrupt and millions were out of work (and still are)...
2 C-17's flying three advance missions
3 Lear jets, one for Mr. and Mrs. Obama, one for a security detail and one for the press (don't leave home without 'em!)
5 Helicopters
1 Presidential Motorcade
44 US Marines and an additional 20 secret service personnel beyond those on the Lear
Hundreds of NYPD and Port Authority police
It's nice to know though that President Obama reportedly picked up the tab for the dinner and broadway show. |

| Oh God. JPL, seriously I think you and Laura should conduct an in depth investigation of presidents Obama's misuse of resources. Even if he didn't break the law he might have broken his campaign promise! Let us know what you find out. |

Yes, it's okay for presidents to go on vacation, jackass. I'm sure we'd all like to to be cheaper, but the guy's got a target on his back for terrorists and Ted Nugent.
If Romney wins, he's free to travel to his various mansions... you think that will be cheaper? You think he'll do it less, or more? By the time president Romney wins, I'm sure he'll have dealt with months of people whining about his living large-- you think this ticky-tack bullshit will bother him then? |
