Hey there AK skiers,
I am planning on being up in AK for the first time and some friends and I are talking about doing the Eklutna Traverse. I was wondering if anyone has current information on the snow conditions or knows where I might find that out. Aside from the safely factor, i want to figure out if I should bring my skinnier ski mtnerring skis or the slightly fat (110 underfoot, pretty light). Also going to be up in the Pika Glacier which it sounds like has been getting rain.

Thanks!!
SC

It's a big snow year but you will have trouble getting on or off the Eklutna. Last year people had to rap off seracs later in the season. Remember to please join the MCA if you plan on using the huts.

And you'll definitely get rain on the Pika. Pack your rock shoes!
