I have been reading lately that some believe you should just go ahead and drink whole milk, because saturated fat is now good for you and reduced fat milk does not allow you to uptake the vitamins in it. And then I read, no, some saturated fat may be fine but too much is still bad for you and reduced fat milk does indeed allow you to get vitamins from it (including those added to it).
I personally don't drink milk because I'm not a baby (except for whole milk in my coffee), but my wife and teenagers do in cereal, 1%- should I be convincing them to switch to whole? _________________ Reluctant enthusiast, part-time crusader, half-hearted fanatic |

having lost weight eating fat & protien I think north america is fat because it eats too much of the wrong food not because it eats food with fat in it
just because being fat is not such a good thing for your health does not mean you will get fat eating fat |

I'd be more worried about the crap that they will ingest in their lifetimes (soda, fast food and assorted other gut bombs) than the difference between 4% and 2 or 1%.
Love the stuff myself and I'm pretty sure it's not going to be the death of me...... |

Since you are asking. Cow's milk is for cows. Are your relatives cows?
Maybe you should ask them if they are cows. Maybe they aren't cows but want to look like cows. In that case then why not whole milk?
You are aware that cow's milk is for baby cows right?

organic w/out hormones is mas importante imo
I drink 2% because it froths better but must admit I could never understand why folks buy skim for the same price as whole or 2% considering the fat is the best part
the French eat tons of dairy fat and aren't overweight |

So no cheese, yogurt or ice cream?
I'll refrain from commenting on the human milk thing. It has too much potential for thread drift. |

Find a dairy farm you are comfortable with and buy your milk raw. _________________ Vermont, Canada and Venezuela all offer you the opportunity to live in the socialist, big government paradise you long for.

How about just dumping milk all together or maybe just a little in your coffee. Substitute Almond milk or Coconut milk in its place. Almond Breeze is a good product. IMO _________________ Just Say No To Groomed Snow |

I'm rejoining the forum to agree with wickstad.
Milk has grossed me out for years. I put up with it in cereal up to about 4 years ago. Went almond and never looked back.
Can't stand yogurt or butter or other dairy. The one that's hard to break is cheese. I eat a carb heavy (mostly fruit) based diet right now, which means I have to eat a lot and frequently. If I get low on calories my body will go into "fat craving" mode. An avocado and nuts will usually fix it, but until I get there cheese pizza is like kryptonite.
When I gave up meat and (mostly) dairy I immediately had more energy and lost weight. If I do weaken and eat pizza I usually feel super chitty for about 4 hours, sluggish and tired. It's become so obvious that my wife, who is decidedly not giving up meat, steers me away from cheese anytime I'm having a weak moment because I go from dr. Banner to Hulk only slow, weak and tired.
Anyway, I don't think all animal protein is bad, but dairy is. Awful, prion filled stuff. _________________ "To me Plastic boots are kind of like a condom on the experience." -light skier-
