That's the fools' point, fool. You CAN'T use a downhill pole properly and still plant the uphill pole.

There are countless
video examples out there..excellent skiers
using dpp as needed..
Gimme a break.
Yeah and "there are countless video examples out there... (of) excellent skiers" using the one-sided pole plant, the late pole plant, the non-existent pole plant, the across the body pole plant, the row boat pole plant, and my favorite, the knock-the-gates-out-of-the-way pole plant, at one time or another. That doesn't make any of these poor techniques valid or something to emulate.

Unless you are Bode!

Bode does all kinds of things getting down the hill at blazing speed that I would never teach a student emulate.
Otherwise, great point though!
He plays with dpp all the time..low speed or not..
sometimes just to get recentered @ high speeds..
but that does not make it an "invalid"
method, on the contrary, it just shows one of
its valid usages.. _________________ Speak and remove all doubt..

You really don't know what you are talking about.
Pole plants are supposed to be about timing and for moving the skier's Center of Mass forward and to the downhill side for the start of the new turn, and for making rotational adjustments. Watch video of racers like Bode more carefully, with your dpp filters off, and you'll see that while sometimes both arms are driven forward strongly during transition, only the inside pole is actualy touched/planted.
These days you mostly see inside pole plants or no pole plants at all on the World Cup. By your logic (or lack of same) this would indicate that no pole planting at all is a "valid usage" of one's poles. Pretty stupid.

Tell Hideaka.. You are blind if u think bode does not
actively use both poles simultaneously at times..
rather trivial to prove with a little video hacking,
but, as i well know, a terrible waste of time..and i
have lots of wc tele stills from last year of actively
using dpp , but won't bother as that's not really
what the thread is about..someone told you
"never use dpp" and u mindlessly agree, minion..
that's no issue for me.. enjoy your mindless dogmatism..
watch the Hideaka video, then tell me you are that good! _________________ Speak and remove all doubt..

No idiot stick, my 12+ seasons of teaching skiing and coaching racers 200 days/year has taught me that uphill pole plants, alone or as part of a double, are a bad idea in that they tend to move the skiers C of M in the wrong direction.
Again, no pole plants are far more common on the WC than DPPs, so by your logic does that mean Mary should take a cue from the racers and learn to ski holding her poles at her sides?

yea, and my 10billion broken poles
taught me to ski without them..
Since when is skiing without poles a
bad idea coach? I do it
all the time..Why drag in uphill plants?
no real relevance..most dpp
in tele occurs in the bumps and on
really chopped/irregular surfaces..If
you notice, Hideaka is using DPP
strongly facing the fall line, and
that's a big difference from skiing
90 degrees to the line and tryin to dpp..
apples and oranges..here's another example
of valid dpp..
http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_detailpage&v=IP6X1MdP6fg#t=138s And I think Mary should DROP the poles and ski
making sure she feels exaggerated pressure on both
shins an dfeet.. _________________ Speak and remove all doubt..

Since when is skiing without poles a bad idea coach? It’s not, it’s just that Mary said at the start she’s 8 days in and skiing intermediate terrain, by this point we like to have students using their poles somewhat competently. It’s an important part of their progression.
Why drag in uphill plants? Because the kind of double pole plant we are talking about contains an uphill plant element, correct? And uphill pole plants of any kind are a bad idea for student skiers.
“Hideaka is using DPP strongly…,” whatever man. Just because somebody can do it doesn’t mean they should. Or more to the point, that it’s relevant to a discussion started by a student skier, well preserved milf or otherwise.
You say you think “Mary should DROP the poles and ski making sure she feels exaggerated pressure on both shins and feet..” Why? Has she given any indication that lack of cuff pressure is an issue for her? Is she in the backseat? We don't know, but on the other hand we have it from Mary herself that she hasn’t been using her poles, and this is a critical mistake for students progressing onto steeper blue runs, as Mary says she’s doing. So it seems likely to me that Mary is hunched over at the waist, hands forward, poles tucked in out of the way and nearly against her thighs, mostly staring at her ski tips. If I’ve seen it once I’ve seen it a thousand times. She should work on becoming proficient with her poles and looking up ahead for better edging and anticipation/balance.
Oh wait, this isn’t about Mary anymore, it’s about you, your kooky ideas and your mancrush on Hideaka, the DPP King.
