I've several friends that swear by the 'originals', a turbo-cone burner but minus the new electro thermocouple. How can it be bad?

Here's another device along the same lines, the Power Pot:

Both seem intriguing. Be nice to see a new generation of innovative chargers using this technology, although I'm really liking my new Brunton Inspire battery and solar panel. No biomass or liquid fuel required, and I don't have to babysit it.

The boys here at home think the name "Power Pot" is a winner... Confused

Cute, but horrendously inefficient as a source of electric power.

If you were planning to make a fire anyway and just need a trickle of charge for your device fixation, it might be useful. In terms of weight, it would be more efficient to carry extra charged batteries, if your device supports them. I do that with my camera. Maybe not if you were going out for a month (in that case, maybe a solar charger?)

Burning wood is not totally without environmental consequences.

Never used or even touched either; the Biolite looks like it is designed to have greater efficiency as a stove (like a rocket stove).

I can believe folks don't have marshmallows on sticks, what a waste, and they call the thing green. How could they?
