Cute, but horrendously inefficient as a source of electric power.
If you were planning to make a fire anyway and just need a trickle of charge for your device fixation, it might be useful. In terms of weight, it would be more efficient to carry extra charged batteries, if your device supports them. I do that with my camera. Maybe not if you were going out for a month (in that case, maybe a solar charger?)
Burning wood is not totally without environmental consequences.
Never used or even touched either; the Biolite looks like it is designed to have greater efficiency as a stove (like a rocket stove). |
