I'm a little bummed out that I'm starting this thread on the first day of the year when I'm usually skiing at Mammoth or June Mtns. But, the weather is what it is, and today was a stellar day for a bicycle ride in SoCal. First real medium length ride on my new geared road bike converted from a single speed.
Start at my house:
Onwards to the LA river bike path:
A view of the Griffith Observatory from the bike path, over a thousand feet higher, and the modest goal for the day:
The entrance to the park:
It's so nice to ride up the hills inside the park sans automobiles:
Getting closer:
On to the top:
It was a gorgeous clear day with views all the way to the Pacific ocean:
It was a good way to start the year, not as great as skiing, but not bad either. _________________ a ship is safe in a harbor, but that is not what it is designed for. |

Cool yard and house TK!
I got out for 40 miles on my road bike today. It was kinda chilly. I was in LA for Thanksgiving and was roller blading from Manhattan to Marina Del Rey and back in shorts and t-shirt; so sweet! |

Thanks! I have the good fortune of being married to a woman with great taste and who also happens to be a landscape architect!

Exactly the reason why people move to SoCal and never move away! _________________ a ship is safe in a harbor, but that is not what it is designed for. |

Same here in So Central CO.
Snowflower and I did a quick 17 mi ride on Sat. low 50's, wind at 5-10, quite pleasant.
Fully recovered from my pre-xmas crash. New white helmet is sexy.
Now only 3483 mi to go to reach 2012 goal. |

I like the orange Brooks B17 on that bike. In my clime I need to keep a seat cover in my bag for stray squalls. _________________ Whoever makes a poor beer is transferred to the dung-hill. -- Edict, City of Danzig, 11th Century |

Yeah, here too - there is a nylon brooks cover stuffed under the saddle!
