We put Bridger down a few weeks back. He was the absolute most loyal and loving dog I have ever known. He helped to raise many puppies, led us through adventure after adventure, and in his prime was a fantastic skiing dog. We sure miss him.
Boy I bet you do miss him. Its never easy to lose a family member. I am sorry to hear of your loss cowdog. and putting a dog down has to be one of the hardest decisions.
Thanks for the kind words funhog. It is very hard to put them down, but for Bridger it was the right thing to do. He had a great long life for a big dog (12.5). He told us that it was time, and we owed it to him to help him not suffer anymore.
The new pup is keeping us busy. He's a little monster, just like he should be at this age. We're having a blast with him.
Beautiful dogs everyone.
Speaking of dearly departed, here are some of Ursa who only had two springs and one winter of skiing but she made the most of her short time here. She was a natural wonder of a ski dog.
I saw her more than once bail out of too deep of powder and head back to a hard pack ridge to descend and meet me at the bottom. Rest in peace mountain pup......

Sorry to hear of the dearly departed. They look like great buddies. They're surely running around and playing with smiles now, somewhere. I dread the day when that comes here...
On a happier note, the return of Black Dog:

Hey, hey, mama, said the way you move
Gonna make you sweat,
gonna make you groove.
Ah, ah, child, the way you shake that thing
Gonna make you burn, gonna make you sting.
Hey, hey, baby, when you walk that way
Watch your honey drip, can't keep away.
Oh yeah, oh yeah,
oh, oh, oh
Oh yeah, oh yeah, oh, oh, oh
I gotta roll, can't stand still,
Got a flamin' heart, can't get my fill,
Eyes that shine burning red,
Dreams of you all through my head.
Ah ah ah ah ah ah ah ah ah ah ah ah ah...
Hey, baby, oh, baby, pretty baby,
Tell me what you do me now.
Hey, baby, oh, baby, pretty baby,
Move me while you do me now.
Didn't take too long 'fore I found out
What people mean by down and out.
Spent my money, took my car,
Started tellin' her friends she goin' be a star.
I don't know, but I've been told
Big legged woman ain't got no soul

You know funhog, I don't know but its a real lucky break. Lacey is very atypical-husky that way. Out of the four I still have from her litter, one is just like her and will stick by me, the one I brought back from NY. Neither of them want me out of their sight.
The rest of them surely do not give a rat's tail where I am.

Thats an awesome video loop trackhead!
You know the problems w/ a single husky, now imagine what a handful of them would do together. Selective hearing in the sole dog becomes flat out deafness and disregard in the pack- unless they are in some sort of bondage.
I suppose one or two huskies could be trained to hang around- with alot of work, but Lacey and her daughter are very strange in that no training whatsoever was necessary. They just blow my mind.
This is my favorite thread right now, checking it twice a day, looking at pictures of dogs that belong to complete strangers. Maybe there's something wrong with me or maybe I should have a dog of my own?
