Did a couple of laps at Bear Valley Resort, south of Kirkwood. 9-12" of very good snow. Got some great turns in between rock hits, which were plentiful. Snow was fast, judgement was impaired, so went faster than I usually do under these conditions, and will have to get out the ptex as a result. Good day to wear knee pads and a helmet, but great fun nonetheless.

Not even close atleast around here on the East side of the lake and Tahoe Meadows. Ed and I did a four hour tour today on the flanks of Price Pk, low angle waxless stuff but elevations 8,500 and we only found about 4" or so. Challenging skiing tho working threw mine fields of rocks and sharks grabbing you skis. So, IMO, we need around 18" to go to game on conditons unless you love to put your body parts at risk and like doing base work. Very Happy

Looks like the precip this weekend is going to be minimal around Tahoe... but I did come across this today. Sweet TR from Bloody earlier this week.

Pretty thin around Echo summit this week.
From Ralston looking towards Echo Lakes last night.
Hiking conditions are still okay.

Anyone been to Carson Pass lately? I'm wondering if there's skateable ice on the lakes.

Bump for wildfire in Reno.
Here's hoping that everyone, their homes and animals are safe.
It's really windy today, hoping that wind will die down soon and the precip begins earlier than expected. Fingers crossed.

Well....? Nice day in the Bay Area, colder temps and it's raining nicely! Although it looks like no bike long bike ride today.

bump.
i'm not sure if folks are attending to SAC, but they are observing a persistent weak layer in the snow that fell mid-month and is now covered by the snow that fell last weekend.

Zones within the forecast area than have been most favored by November snowfall have also show the greatest amount of instability on this weak layer.

Yeah, the vid of the conditions and the pit submitted by SAC(HourGlas) yesterday was eye opening Shocked Unfortunately once we get the first decent dumpage there will be a host of Jonesers throwing down up there without a clue as too whats underneath.
We have been fishscaling around Chick a dee and Price Pk finding about 2-12" of dry powder over no base so what with the rocks we have been getting mileage but few turns. So pretty much doing climbs then long low traverses and making whatever turns we could find without rocks and reclimbing and high traversing. Then go home and get a session of base work. Doesn't look like much precipt in the near future.
