Technically this belongs in the 2010/11 thread but I'm too lazy to look for it. The scale of this descent is incomprehensible. And the fact that he traversed above the Czech Direct on skis and then somehow worked his way down bits and pieces of the American Direct and finally out the East fork all solo is crazy.

And here's an article on the S face:

I was in REI yesterday. They had just put out last year's ski stuff at closeout prices. There was a pretty good selection of AT boots, like $450 for BD Method. If you are into that kind of thing. _________________ "A libertarian is a republican that smokes weed" - random internet guy |

adding more to the mind-blowing-ness of this descent is that he broke a vertebrae in his neck, his pelvis, and some ribs in 2010 in an avalanche accident
here's colin haley's april 19 account of that accident. |

Alright! Ankle-deep creamy pow on top of a nicely carve-able base at the Lane. Come and get it! And that road's in much nicer shape this year.

Another vid to get you excited for big snow covered mountains (although the Lane looks oh so good right now). If you ask me people who don't ski yet still venture in the high Chugach in spring are just plain weird...

PS... I just have to ask. @ak_powder_monkey - 8 spools of tippet? Seriously? |

I keep reading that last years La Nina pcean current pattern is due to remain until at least early 2012.
Last season's La Nina was terrible for us, but historically has meant drier, colder snow and plenty of it. So , here's hoping that last season was a one off and the goods return. _________________ "My main hope for myself is to be where I am."-Woody Harrelson- |

One place to which the goods have not yet returned is Crow Pass, where glacier ice prevails:

I'm looking for partners. There really is some good stuff out there right now.
