Didn't see a thread on this yet. I haven't made it for the last 3 years but took off June 1-2 (weekend after Memorial Day) hoping that will be what the masses decide on. Let the discussion commence.

Memorial day is definitely out for me. Right now, the weekend after or the next two weekends are open.

I too have missed it for a few years, but hoping to come with family and camper in tow.

Snow's purty good up there. Another foot last night won't hurt. Can't guarantee how long it will last as that will depend on how warm we get. Also, I'm going to try and make it this year and the first weekend after the holiday works for me too.

Last year, the first week of June was too late (at least according to the TR), but this year -- while till a low snow year -- has been quite a bit different than last. As in, we've had snow and cold in March and April.

And while the pass did open early last year, they typically don't open it until just before Memorial Day, so planning anything earlier than that until we know isn't really possible.

Looks to be about 2X the snow there was last year up there. Not that last year was hard to beat.

I'm hoping to make it this year, what are the options for camping if I was to drap my popup up there?

Oh yea, just about every weekend is fair game. If anyone wants to run a river the day before or day after (depending on when this thing turns out to happen) let me know. Maybe Browns canyon for an easy paddle?

Holiday weekends are impossible for me. So I vote for the weekend after Memorial Day. Thanks for putting this up, Phil.

Irrelevant. Laughing

Camping, seeing friends, fireside juggling acts, the fishing is good on that side of the pass. Cool

Mem day we're camping with friends at Ruby Mtn and the weekend after the 1st we start Ride the Rockies. So I vote for the 1st. Wink

This spring and this week in particular are making things look promising even now. It isn't the early season snow that makes a good spring but the spring snow.

Just wondering whether to bring the skis, mountain bike or both - I just might be able to make it this year

too early to call on the bike, but you'll definitely want the skis.

One year I brought the bike and we had a great ride on the CO Trail on Sunday out of Twin Lakes. But most years it's been all skiing.

Maybe this will be my year to make it. I bet my boy would be into it now too. The holiday weekend would probably be best for us since I think he gets a day off school.

Anyone got some small gear he can borrow? He can now wear the same size boots as mom and she has a pair of AT and a pair of tele boots. But our smallest tele setup may still be on the long side for him and I don't have extra skins. But if someone had an available pair of small skis (AT or tele) and skins that would be great!

Or even just skins and I could make him suffer on the longer skis...
