This whole thing must be heading to a brokered convention, what other option is there. The parade of psychopaths has narrowed down to Santorum and Romney, they aren't really going forward with these bozos are they? The only sane option at this point is drafting someone at a brokered convention, I doubt they would choose someone to my liking. Maybe they should bring Bob Dole back from the grave, at least the corpse of Ronald Reagan is term limited out.

Maybe they'll go with Santorum-Palin 2012, and folks will lustily cheer all the red meat and zingers.

I don't know what republicans think they are going to win with this garbage, but they aren't going to win the presidency. Maybe they are going to stick with their principles, if you can call crazy a principle.

It's terrible the MSM is accusing her of guilt by association.

A side piece in huffy-po is hardly msm, imho. I think it's still uncertain if it's anything more than just another brick in the wall. My main reason for putting it up was just to poke a bit at Laura and get her comments on it.

Hey man, double standard. The MSM is so easy on Obama and so harsh on Palin.

Holy shit Truther you've quoted yourself four times in that nest. That's a pretty good indication that nobody gives a rat's ass about the things you obsess over.

I think its totally unfair that they convicted this guy after he had already been acquitted.

Quote:
His Alaska Assembly Post promoted the "sovereign citizen" movement in Fairbanks, the notion that the individual is the only source of governmental authority. Under the auspices of the Assembly Post, Cox arranged for a "judge" and a jury of his pals to hear his weapons case and a prior domestic violence case to which he had already pleaded guilty. The proceedings were held at the Denny's restaurant in Fairbanks and he was acquitted of all charges.

Most countries have far-right movements and in many European countries they actual find some electoral/political traction. That never happens here yet some of you seem to obsess over these things. I think it's because you find that this is an easy way to besmirch and ridicule mainstream Conservatism which bears no resemblance to these crack-pot movements. Rather than actually address "real" Conservatism, you fool around with this shit. Truther is beyond redemption and is almost certainly insane but you, Skooks, probably know better and yet you seem to really get off commenting about this stuff and its role in my country. I find that tendency of yours sort of offensive. Not just as a mainstream Conservative (whatever exactly that is) but as an American. Maybe that's your point.

Willy I didn't know you were so sensitive. I find those kinds of people that accumulate arms and advocate violence troubling. Some of their ideas are just bizarre. I'm not sure how close they are to the mainstream, it certainly seems that the idea that you have some kind of right to amass hand grenades and threaten destruction is fairly common.
In 2010, one thing that I found scary was a video of a Rand Paul event where he was surrounded by obese heavily armed men in camo
whose leader made a speech threatening anyone who opposed them. I don't think baby Paul shares their ideas, but he still legitimizes them by associating with them and appears happy to take their support.

In the majority of cases, these guys are just playing soldier-but with real firearms- and law enforcement deals with them when they make a threat, but the whole movement is just not a sign of a healthy society.

I don't have any particular axe to grind with Americans or American conservatives, I don't think the US is evil or fascist and conservatives might be wrong about some things (or not) but I don't think they are bad people and I don't hate them.

Anyway this is the OT. Dare to be stupid.

They never achieve power and their numbers are small. Why don't you ever comment about these movements in Europe where they actually do make electoral in-roads?

Quote:

So American society is "unhealthy" or do I read too much into what you post? That just seems really silly to me - we're probably no more or less "healthy" than any other Western country. In fact, I think we're doing fine - but thanks for your concern. BTW, what should I deduce about a society that produces a psychopath that murders and eats people and cuts off body parts and mails them to members of Parliment?
