This season, southern VT and western MA will host three rando races, with most of the prizes reserved for those who participate in all three races.
Detailed information is available at:

"Fans" of the Facebook page can RSVP and receive updates as the race dates approach (although registration and payment is the morning of each race).
And those race dates are:

Bad News - Possible Okay News - Possible Good News - Exciting News
Some updates, mainly for the MRV races.
But in general, if you’re interested in the Berkshire East, Magic, and/or Bromley races, please use Facebook to RSVP with either a Yes or Maybe, since future updates will be sent out those on the RSVP lists.
Bad News = Berkshire East skin track is currently stripped of snow (Sunday’s fog was brutal)
Possible Okay News = I have some ideas for an in-area relay race on shorter laps.
Possible Good News = Still almost two weeks to go until race date, and looks like some small snows coming up could cover the skintrack sufficiently to hold the race.
Exciting News = For the Mad River Valley (i.e., Mad River Glen > Sugarbush) race: the previous longer course ("pro") diversion to the top of North Lynx (i.e., on the final ascent) will be eliminated in favor of a boot pack to the top of FIS (i.e., after partway into the first descent). This also means a much more challenging descent. Plus skis must be lashed to your pack (NOT carried in your hands or over your shoulder).
No changes to the less-long course ("rec") from prior years.
But *all* participants (regardless of course selection) must wear a helmet at *all* times. (Helmet can have any kind of certification though, e.g., ski, climb, bike, water, etc.)
Also, please note that I’m just an informal messenger here – I have absolutely no affiliation with the MRV race, but just want to pass along helpful (and exciting!) info. _________________ My Dynafits are powered by GU.

With hindsight, my concern at the time appears rather amusing especially in light of how brutal Friday's trail breaking was.
So anyway, a huge amount of snow now for the backcountry ascent, and Flying Cloud is looking good for a fairly steep descent route.
Weather will be clear but cold for tomorrow's race, but hey, a good reason to stay further south rather than freezing in Northern New England, right? _________________ My Dynafits are powered by GU.

Well, if you didn't blow past it entirely.
I slowed down, but kept looking for an officially marked ascent route.
Eventually I figured out that no such route existed, so I hiked back up to the base of Upper FIS, and then joined Jerimy, who was of course surprised to see me hiking up from lower down to what ended up being the ski>hike transition, whoops!
Anyway, here are the MRV results:
In addition, another 7 skiers were DNF, and 14 more skiers competed in a much shorter course for a junior program. _________________ My Dynafits are powered by GU.

Magic race this coming Saturday is kind of up in the air regarding descent route challenge and weather conditions.
Weigh in here if you're interested:

Based on this morning's scouting tour, the Bromley course description has been extensively updated (although the course is still the same), along with an annotated trail map, table for course segments, and pictures of transition areas. Please visit the Event page to RSVP if potentially interested. _________________ My Dynafits are powered by GU.
