Two skiers were caught in an avalanche on Wright Peak in the Adirondacks on Saturday--the location of a fatal avalanche 10 years ago. You can find more details on the Adirondack Explorer's Outtakes blog. Link below.

Quote:
The skiers had dug a pit to test the snow before heading up the slope about noon on Saturday. While ascending, they heard “woofing” noises in the fresh snow—a sign of an unstable snow pack—and chose to backtrack. As they turned around, however, the snow gave way and carried them both down the slope.

I would also be concerned if I heard woofing noises from the snow.

I would too, that would mean one of my dogs were buried (but they must have an airway)?
