But it is the crank the heel binding while twisting/angling and lifting heel of boot?
First, lock your toes into tour mode. Then, you lift the back of the ski off the snow towards your butt, wedge the handle of your pole between the heel lifter on the plum/dyna heel piece and the heel of your boot, grab the pole at about mid shaft, and pull/twist foward on the pole. If you do it right, the binding will release and rotate into tour mode at the lowest climbing height setting. If you do it wrong, the binding heel releases without rotating and the tail of the ski falls to the ground, and then you have to insert the tip of your pole into the heel piece to rotate it into tour mode.
There is another method to go from ski to tour without lifting your skis off the ground. You insert the tip of your pole in the heel piece and rotate it into tour mode while lifting the heel of your boot out of the binding. This method generates much more toruque, and I have broken several bindings and pole tips using this method, so I don't reccomend it.
