So sometime ago I had dinner with some Russian friends of ours. Before dinner we had a bottle of chilled vodka, shots of course. But they served a very strong garlic and carrot cold salad, it did make the vodka much easier to drink neat.
Anyone know a recipe or has had this delicious salad? _________________ Il n'y a que moi qui a toujours raison.

We had a Russian exchange student a few years ago and he made it (though I think he screwed it up).
All I remember was shredded carrots, vinegar, and some sugar. There are probably many variations on the theme.
One thing I noticed about the kid, and I think this is probably typical for Russians in general, was that he liked fresh vegatables with his meals. Meals are much more of a sit-down, family thing for them with multiple courses. He was uncomfortable with "eating on the go" like so many Americans are used to.
