ya'll might want to attend to the prog'ed temps in the high country this weekend.

Some pictures from skiing Mt. Williamson last sunday via N. Bairs Creek. Conditions were amazing.
Williamson from the road. Our ascent route is hidden by the northeast ridge. Photo: Leor
The lower approach was interesting. It certainly lived up to its reputation as a bit of a bushwack. We climbed this in the dark - this photo is from the hike out. Photo: Leor
We ascended the chute out of the glacial cirque in the upper center of the photo. This is from about 7200'. Snowline was ~7400' and skiable all the way down! Photo: Leor
A closer view of N. Bairs Creek drainage. Photo: Leor
The glacial cirque and the chute accessing the summit plateau. Photo: Leor
Hiking across the summit plateau. It was bare rock above 14000' so it wasn't possible to ski from the summit. Photo: Leor
Summit self portrait with Tyndall in the background. I don't think it goes anymore this season...
It was amazingly clear and we had tremendous views of the Sierras! Photo: Leor
I'm pretty psyched about 7k of snow right about now...
The impossible to make out skin track and turns on the upper slopes before the summit plateau.
That's good spring snow.
This looks good.
Yeah it was good.
Photos: Leor
It was ski-able all the way down to Bairs Creek at 7200'. A damn good day. |

hey thanks for the compliments guys! it was a damn fun climb. i bet it's in condition for a few more weeks. the higher stuff is where it's real good anyhow.
so if you're interested in skiing it, my partner posted a detailed TR on cascadeclimbers.com with real good beta about the approach and so on.

Thanks man! That was the exciting bit, for sure. i'd say it's about 40 degrees at the top, easing off to 30-35. unfortunately most of the chute was pretty firm since it doesn't get a lot of sun, but the left side was pretty good most of the way down. Still, it was a hell of a lot of fun to ski.
Also the drop down into williamson bowl on the west side looked real fun. that's a long hike out though... |

Um, it sucked.
NOT!
We did Coke chute on Saturday, Powerhouse on Sunday. It was really hot over the weekend, but the snow held up well. Good corn both days. No signs of instability. The snowpack looks like it's later than it actually is. Get it while you can! On the plus side, many of the typical big cornices are either much smaller or just not there. Solstice entrance looks doable.
I seem to be too busy to post a proper TR, but there are some pics from the other folks on the trip over on the thread on sb.com. Here are a few of my pics. Totally amazing weekend!
